Sweet Sunday or is that Sundae?

Sunday was primarily a relaxing lazy day. I had breakfast at home. I wanted to go out but saw the wait line on my phone and opted to just skip it. Being Mother’s Day, most restaurants were packed and always are on that day. Same thing goes for Father’s Day. In any case I made it to the grocery store. A little frazzled when I walked in the door but I managed to pull it together and got what I needed and then some. It doesn’t take long to spend it. This week’s sweets are a ½ of a German Chocolate Cake and a 1/2 of a Carrot Cake. Speaking of sweets when I went to bed on Saturday night, I felt tired but I also felt like my sugar was dropping. I wanted to ignore it but I got up and tested, good thing I did it was 53. I’ve never seen a reading so low. That’s because I had no desert with my dinner or anything after. My body loves sugar and so do I. Not exactly sure what would have happened if I would have drifted off to sleep.

I finished up the laundry, cleaned the house. Unpacked the medium size box the Amazon person dropped at my door. I was excited to see the fertilizer for the evergreen. I haven’t unwrapped the package yet but from the outside it looks like they are spikes and I have to hammer them into the ground. That sounds like a little more work than what I had hoped for but something that I will tackle either on my days off or the weekend.

Gator is doing okay; her appetite has calmed down a little bit but she is still eating a fair amount of food. I think that she is trying to keep up or ahead of her kidneys and absorbing the water from the wet food as well as the water she gets from the fountain. Just a hypothesis but she might be farther along with this kidney thing than we know. I also for sure know that some of her mental facilities have slipped a bit but she is still very with it and hasn’t lost the art of begging or commanding me.

I fixed the screen in the front window and was able to open it to get some fresh air in yesterday. It was a cool afternoon and the last one we will have for a few days. It was nice to get fresh air in but it did aggravate my allergies.

The other thing that bothered my allergies was Brylcream. I’ve heard lots of commercials about it over the years and it came up in my Amazon feed on a whim I bought some. Jesus does that stuff smell foul. I don’t see how any man could use that every day unless he didn’t have a sense of smell. It was only $6 but clearly a waste of money for me. I set it aside but am probably going to wind up throwing it out. With my short hair it didn’t make any difference. I use professional hair care products but every once and a while I have to try something generic and am typically disappointed. While I don’t like the price of the professional stuff the results are never disappointing which is why I’ve stuck with those products for years. With shorter hair I don’t put product in but once a while and it’s usually a gel or pomade. Mostly I am a wash, condition and go kind of guy. I do use some leave in conditioner on occasion. I remember having longer hair and taking an hour to style my hair just right, what a waste of time. Buzz it off and wash n go. Simpler for me.

I follow several people on YouTube with various interest. Of course, the way YouTube started for me was following young Gay YouTubers. There are still a few of them left but by in large most have vanished for one reason or another. I invested so much time and looked so forward to seeing their videos when they disappeared it was like losing a friend. I get that the camera isn’t for everyone and that after a while everything no matter how appealing it once was, becomes a hassle or chore and you are less likely to want to devote time to it. I took some time yesterday to write to one of the gay youtubers that I follow and it really was a time suck for me. I planned just a few minutes and it spiraled into something I didn’t plan for. That altered my day and before the day passed me by, I had to get going. I did plan for a post yesterday but it was one of the things that I had to forego besides that I feel like skipping a day gave me a little bit more content to provide today.

I had a decent night’s sleep. I won’t call it good because my bladder woke me up a couple times. Gator started her crying as soon as I hit the bed and I wasn’t having it. I gave her a few minutes to see if she would settle down but that never happened so I removed her from the room, closed the door and then turned off the TV and out I went. I am thinking of doing the same thing tonight to ensure that I can wake up at 6a and make it into the office. I really want to go in and I kind of feel crazy for saying it. There isn’t anything special going on and I will likely be bored a good portion of the time that I am there but there is just something about getting out and being among other people that is good for my mental wellbeing.

I am thankful to be done with my on-call week. Now it’s all about making it through 3 days and then I can turn work off for a few days which I think will be nice so long a I don’t come back to a nightmare to clean up after. That is always a risk when you put in for time off sort of like a punishment for being away.

There isn’t much going on today except for a meeting this afternoon where by boss asked me to do his job but I haven’t really put any thought into the effort he wants me to. Figure that I will just wing it but the meeting is with a bunch of managers so likely they will each have their own ideas and I won’t need to think of anything just kind of nod yes and move on. Outside of that it’s pretty much a blank slate and I could easily stay in bed and only get up if I see that I am needed.

Mother nature as I have mentioned is turning up the heat today so at some point this afternoon, I will flip the switch to turn the AC on. I need to change the air filter for good measure. The AC will stay on for the week because it’s going to be very warm for a while. It will be nice to be able to go out without a jacket, coat or something else to tag along. At the same time, I will feel like I am forgetting something because I won’t have that jacket or coat with me. I hate riding with anything like that on but just like long sleeves it takes some getting used to. Now it’s short sleeve weather and I am sure that I will freeze my ass off in my office at work tomorrow, might have to fire up that portable heater to be comfortable.

I hope that you had a great Sunday and a very nice weekend. Back to the grind but another weekend will be waiting for us all in just 4 more days. Have a great Monday if that’s possible and be well. Chat with you all again soon. Thanks as usual for stopping by!
