Hi and thanks for stopping by. It’s been some weekend.
Saturday morning started off with insomnia in the early morning hours. Not exactly sure why but it was there. I still managed to get up and going early.
Did a super dumb thing and had Bread Pudding for Breakfast. It was a new dish at my breakfast place but it was more meant as a desert, they don’t have desert but they do now. I got some eggs and sausage to go with it. Not bad. The bread pudding needed raisin's to taste a little bit better but it wasn’t bad. I just set myself up for a nap and sugar crash but hey I had to try it.
Went on to get my hair cut, drop off my return to Amazon, pick up my mail and the last part for the water softener. Then on to see my friends. That was a fun trip but rain moved in and damn that wasn’t fun to drive home in.
However, the rain did help with my afternoon nap that I had to have since the sugar from breakfast was wearing off.
When I woke up I thought about going out for supper. We had bad weather moving in and I had totally forgotten about the cats food so had to grab that. Then I was set on getting food for me but the more I drove something told me that I needed to be at home. I diverted my plans and stopped at Wendy’s. Where a hunk o man took my order and my credit card. Too bad whoever filled the order didn’t listen to my instructions because there was crap on my burger that I asked to be left off. It’s the first time in a while that’s happened.
I came home had my food and we sat in my room with the AC on to cool down the place. Oddly enough a cold front was moving in. We had really bad storms and several tornados. We were supposed to be in our safe spot but I kept a watch on the media and I had the scanner going. My phone and the scanner sounded some new warnings and sounds that I haven’t heard/seen before. I just stuck with the cats and held steady in my position. The storm like a bad dream was over just not soon enough. No damage here but other areas weren’t so lucky. Lots of people without power. Mine flickered once but it’s still on.
I came downstairs and installed the new part for the Water Softener and then watched a couple of repair videos and checked a couple of other things out. Turns out this is one appliance that looks much scarier than it is but it is not complicated. It’s tough to get parts for today because I suppose Water Softeners have fallen out of fashion or people rent them from Culligan instead of buying them. However, I’ve been through a couple of recharge cycles and I do think I was wrong about water in the salt tank. You need some otherwise how does the salt break down? It wouldn’t without some water it would just stay in the tank.
I went to bed and there is so much that wasn’t done but I just didn’t care.
Sunday the dawn of a new day. Also a day I kind of hate because it means were closer to Monday and it also means I have to go visit the grocery store. YUK!
I went back to the breakfast place I ordered a dish with a chicken strip, egg, cheese served on biscuits and gravy and damn it was so good. I was such a pig and after I finished the first one I asked for another serving. I was so full and miserable when I left I wanted to go home and laydown. It is back to feeling like Winter in the 40’s again and the wind is blowing. Perfect day to sleep in.
I went on to the grocery store, bitching under my breath the entire time I was in the store about how miserable I was and I got a couple of burps which felt so good. Made it to the end of the line and left. Then got into a small fight with a gas pump that didn’t want to work right on a super cold day. Won that battle and finally came home.
Put the groceries away, turned on the heat, got undressed and under a cover. Watched some TV and then went back to bed for a while. The cats got me up and then I started to move.
They wanted lunch. I then came downstairs and sucked the water softener’s tank dry (with a shop vac. I’m talented but not that talented) and then ventured backup stairs to grab the bag of salt that has been sitting in the garage for a couple weeks. I was surprised that it made a minor dent when I poured it into a totally empty tank. I started a recharge cycle put the cover back on and walked away. It’s finally back in service and I did it all by myself. The biggest help was running into that plumber a couple weeks ago who told me the size of the fittings. However I did all of the actual repair work and parts swapping by myself and that saved me a bunch of money. However, this was a bit more of a costly project than I wanted it to be. It started with a couple hoses then turned in to needing another part and there was a lot of self doubt. Oddly enough I don’t have that feeling of satisfaction I was looking for I am more glad that this is done. If it gives me any more trouble I will walk away from it and just rely on city water. It’s not that bad but you have to use more soap and the taste is slightly different.
Got a load of laundry going. Going to work on the dishes and vacuuming in a bit. Got to do some surfing. Bills are paid and receipts are entered. I need to get to filing but will probably save that for during the week. I for some reason let things sit and they pile up after a couple months. I file them, swear I won’t do it again and go right back to doing it again.
I hope this week goes well. I for sure plan on going in 1 day this week. I like the comfort of my home but I need more exercise and to be around people. Something about that just does me more good than I realize. I am still amazed that I used to commute 5 days a week without question for years it seems like a huge waste of time & money. However, the psychological benefits are immeasurable. I’ve had some good times alone but way more good times with others, sharing a laugh or just working through a tough project. I get why no one should be alone for an extended period of time with no end.
I am still on the dating app. No serious conversations have started yet. I have pretty well exhausted all of the potential suitors but I tweak my criteria here and there. I don’t understand why the app shows me straight men, when I see them it’s an automatic reject I don’t want to waste anyone’s time. I want this to be a simple process and well it’s just not. Emotions get in the way there is some awkwardness and there’s the complicated part. I just wish my search was over. I’ve been tinkering with this for many years now and much like the water softener I’m ready to walk away.
A serious question though on a different note. Do any of you have security cameras? I’m looking to put in cameras on the outside of my home because there’s some strange stuff going on. I don’t want to get roped into a costly cloud storage bill and wires are not my friends. I’ve done some research but not enough to where I am ready to pull the trigger. I’d be interested to know what brand you have, how they work for you and how much the monthly cloud storage bill is, plus how’s battery life. I see the Ring outdoor cameras that boast 2 year battery life which sounds nice today but come 2 years from now it won’t be that nice. I also kind of want to stay clear of Amazon. The cameras I have for the cats are indoor, there is no cloud storage or recording. It was offered but I declined. Those cameras are Amcrest and I’m happy with them as they serve their intended purpose.
Well off to surf and get more work done. Thinking about supper and honestly nothing that I have here sounds that good. I’d rather go out but I’m in my comfy clothes and don’t want to change. It will either be settling for something here or hitting up a drive thru.
Thanks for stopping by, I will talk with you all again soon. Be well and stay comfortable if your weather is like mine it’s changes drastically on a whim.
