Day after May the 4th be with you

It’s a busy day here for me, all work related of course.  We have a bunch of new folks starting later this month and this is an annual event.  There is much to do with getting accounts setup and paperwork processed.  I’ve been tackling some of that this morning.  It’s not all on me thank goodness but considering that I will have to check over my colleagues work it might as well all be on me.  For me, once I get a rhythm going it’s easy to keep it just don’t loose focus or get distracted.  If that happens then everything goes to hell and I have to figure out where I was, where I need to be and to try to get the rhythm back.  I’ve got nothing going today or tomorrow as it stands at the moment so I figure might as well make good use of quiet time.  I know there will be a distraction soon enough.  I just had to take a break for a bit.

Gator woke me up once at 3a and I was up until a little after 4a trying to go back to sleep.  She has been good about polishing off her treats but she is selective about what cans of food she will finish.  Most of the time she eats about 1/2 and the rest goes to waste.  It’s a bad habit and there is no way I can break her of that now after 17 years.  I did stretch out her probiotic powder to try to sprinkle some on several cans of food and the first couple of cans are fine but after that it seems to loose it’s luster, she is still attracted to the food but not compelled to finish the entire can.  I am no vet but just in what I have observed over the course of the last 3 weeks I think some of this was a serious issue but mostly she is lonely/depressed and doesn’t like being the only cat.  Cats don’t know about death or have a fear of it but I somehow think she has figured it all out and she doesn’t want to leave me or be left.  Hey I get it I feel the same way.  This again is my interpretation and not gospel.  I think she will be okay next week when I leave for the office on Tuesday.  I will also be away later in the week since I am going to the doctor, that is always a few hours.  I am trying my best to let her know that I am still very much here for her and that I will take care of her.  I think catering to most of her every whim demonstrates that but then again it’s probably something she has come to expect.  I still think she wants me to figure out a way to bring the water to her so she can drink in bed, but that won’t happen unless things get seriously worse.  She needs some exercise even though she doesn’t get much every little bit helps to keep things intact and flowing.

Da Mophie battle continues.  I hooked up the new arrival last night just before bed.  I didn’t have high hopes and that is a good thing because the same thing that has happened with all of the units in the past continued with this one, in that it won’t charge via qi charging (aka wireless charging).  I am of course sending this back.  I am on to my second option which is a case to protect the phone and then a Mophie battery back that attaches via magnets for on-demand recharging.  It’s not completely ideal but if this solves the problem, unless it’s just way too bulky it’s what I will live with.  My other thought was just keep one of the cases and plug the damn thing in when it’s time to recharge.  That’s the only way it will recharge with the phone in it.  Perhaps when I upgrade phones to the next version of the iPhone SE that doesn’t have wireless charging having that silly case will fix the issue.  I am just tired of constantly running to the UPS Store to return packages.  Pretty soon they are going to know me on a first name basis and that’s not something that I want.  I also think that some how it does some damage to my Amazon account.  I am not a frequent returner of anything in fact it’s one thing I don’t like to do but if it’s a decent amount of money then you had better know if the product sucks or is defective I am going to get my money back come hell or high water.  These battery cases are about $90 to $99 each, hence the ring around the rosy and hoping that the next one will be better.  Part of this is the definition of insanity in that I am doing the same thing over and over hoping for different results.  While technically that is possible I should have given up after the second one didn’t work.  Ah well.  Friday is the day the new case and magnetic battery arrive so I will probably make my UPS run on Saturday if I can get myself out of bed at a decent hour.

Today is a rainy day and it’s going to do that for the bulk of the day.  Next week we have HOT weather coming and I am NOT looking forward to that because it means the AC will have to be on FOR SURE because I am not living in a sweat box.  Today the sump pump is working overtime.

I got a call last night out of the blue from an old insurance agent, he wanted to re-connect or so he said.  We didn’t talk all that much in the years he had my business.  He left the company I am with and looks like he formed an agency of his own.  I know he wants me to jump ship and that’s just not going to happen.  I won’t be calling him back.  It’s amazing what you can find out with a couple of Google Searches.  Reconnect is a code word for I want something from you.  I am old enough and smart enough to know that much.  I do price shop my insurance and no one can give me the same exact coverage for any less.  There are other companies who can make it look like your getting a bargain and they are cheaper but when you go to compare coverage you see what is lacking and that is how they are able to beat the current rate.  If I can ever find a company that can give me exactly what I have today for less money then that is a no brainer and I would take it just to save money.  However, I don’t think that is something that is ever going to happen.

Well that’s enough jibber jabber for this post.  Back to the fun, I hear the sound of new mail pouring in at work and Gator has been making some noise upstairs.  Were close enough to snack time that I will check on her.  Probably take in some yogurt and then come back and get back to the big job at work.

Hang in there one more day until Friday.  Hope all is going well, thanks for stopping by.  Talk again soon!
