3 Grocery Stores–1 Weekend!

JURY DUTY

So I checked in on Friday afternoon, turns out that they don’t want to see me on Monday.  I have to check back Monday afternoon to see what is in store for Tuesday.  I suspect that this will draw on like this all week until Thursday afternoon, when I can breathe a sigh of relief in that I didn’t have to go at all.  Now that is totally a supposition on my part, stay tuned to find out what actually happens!

MEMORIES

This weekend one of my big things on my list of to do’s was to clean up my late partners office a little bit.  I managed to accomplish that.  Then while I was cleaning a flood of memories came back to me.  I really miss that guy.  Big Boy came in the room and he wouldn’t leave for hours.  He misses him too.  Big Boy was his favorite because all you have to do is say his name and he looks at you with those pretty eyes and that just stole his heart.  Plus all that he had been through, its no wonder he was his favorite.

He (my late partner) had this self setting clock on the wall.  He built a special bracket so that he could look up and see it.  It had to be titled at an angle because it’s digital and there is an attachment that goes outside and communicates with the clock to tell you the temperature outside.  We both often looked at it before heading out – winter or summer.  The batteries lasted 2 years and had to be replaced.  It’s a little bit of a hassle to get it to set, until it updates.  I managed.  Then realized there was no outside temperature.  I ran to get the outside gadget and noticed there was corrosion inside of it.  I filed that away with an Emory board because I couldn’t find a pencil eraser (who uses pencils today).  Put the batteries back in and set it on the counter.  Within a few minutes presto it’s reading again.  I took it back outside and all is well.  Then instead of sticking it back in his office where I’d never see it, I mounted it just outside the kitchen.  It looks awesome and now I will get some use out of it.

The door to his office is open today and I will close it tonight.  There is still stuff in there that I don’t want destroyed so I will close the door tonight.  I am far from having the office clean but I am slowly working on it.  It’s in much better shape today than when he left it, but it’s still quite the shambles.  I am also unclear on what I am going to do with the room once it’s cleaned up.  It’s not like I have a time table to make a decision on, so we shall just wait and see what happens.

THE MOTHER LOAD

Saturday I had to take my mother to get her blood drawn.  We went to the place where she thought it was and I told her they were closed.  Turns out the lab actually moved.  She got directions and was told oh it’s down the street behind Target.  Yeah, it was 2 towns away and about 10 miles later, then I found it.  Thanks to my iPhone & my GPS.  We finished up there and got a bite to eat.  Then I had to take her to the grocery store to get her medicine.  It was just a comedy of errors but it was an okay time.  She never asked me about the truck.  She told me that she is getting $6k for her old car and wants to buy something for 2k.  I honestly don’t think she will find a used car for 2k and if she does it will no doubt be something that is full of problems.  I think she should have kept the car, taken the money and not gotten it fixed, she would have been better off.  Then in the next breath she tells me that she wishes my brother wasn’t her guardian.  I said why is that?  She replied I want to take him to court.  I said is he spending your money wrong?  Is he hurting you?  No he just wouldn’t take me to get my medicine the other day, we got into a huge fight.  Oh so in other words your pissed at him, yeah that is what I am saying.  Oh okay.  Wow, here I thought something was seriously wrong.  You just never know with her.  We parted ways and I came home to take a nap from all of the sugar I ingested during breakfast, plus the lack of sleep didn’t do me any favors.

THE HEAT IS ON

I had to turn on the furnace, we had a cold front move through and this place has been down right chilly.  Saturday morning it was 69 degrees.  My favorite number, but that is too cold.  I didn’t have a stich of clothing on and I was freezing.  I can only imagine how the children felt.  Ah, that fresh furnace smell after you run it the first time – that was awesome.  I think the days of AC are pretty well done, but I could be wrong.

MOPHIE CLAIMS MY CASH

So I have been so fixated on getting a Mophie for my iPhone.  I just had to have it.  Never mind that I have already invested in a Lifeproof case and a dock to charge the iPhone.  Mophie just seemed like something I couldn’t live without and the portable Mophie is well and good but I want the extra battery on my phone.  I drove myself batty.  Yesterday I finally gave in I got 2 Mophies plus Tempered Glass put on my phone.  I got a huge discount so this didn’t cost me all that much.  Then I had to hit up Best Buy because I needed a Mophie holster and AT&T didn’t carry those.  I also wanted a dock, I just love a dock for every phone that I have, I hate having to actually plug in a cable, it drives me nutz.  So anyway, I got the holster.  Saw a handsome guy while I was waiting in line to pay.  Then I came home and got on Amazon and paid for 1 day shipping for the dock.  It will be here on Tuesday.  Yes, friends I am in credit card debt and I seem to keep getting myself in deeper.  At least I have been able to stave off the need for a laptop.

At work we run VMWare.  It allows you to deploy Virtual Machines via a Thin Client/dumb terminal.  That is my computer.  There is a super awesome client that you can install on your iPad and iPhone that will allow you to connect from anywhere.  With my iPad since I have a Bluetooth Keyboard it is just as good as having a laptop.  Completely and totally functional just as if I were sitting at my desk, minus 1 monitor.  I am thinking of using the iPad when I am on call instead of traipsing down to the basement.  I still have to ask the question about on-call since we were 2 groups and now we are 1.  I am not exactly sure how on-call is working and no one seems to be voluntarily forthcoming with information.

THE BIG GAME

So Friday morning I was watching the news and learned that the big football game was happening that night.  Note to self don’t go home by the high school.  What did I do?  Yup forgot all about it.  I actually was able to turn around.  Then today I read the paper.  It was a combination of the football game and a fatal accident involving a high school student that backed traffic up for miles and miles in all different directions.  So sad.

3 GROCERY STORES 1 WEEKEND

I went to the store with my mom, so that is #1.  Then I went to the grocery store today as I normally would, that is #2.  Then I had to go to the super expensive store because they carry the oatmeal I like and when the weather turns cold, I start eating hot cereal, that is #3.  All in the same weekend.  It’s a wonder that I am still able to function as much disdain that I have for grocery stores.  :)

THE DATING FRONT

So I am still out there looking for a guy to call my own.  I got a message from the guy that I saw a few weeks back.  He wants to know when we are getting back together. I am actually not eager to do that at all.  I think he is still super pushy and I am ready to block him, but haven’t yet.  I just ignored his message, which isn’t normal for me.  I reached out to another guy and we have chatted a little bit, but nothing serious.  I was doing all of the question asking and now turned the tables and asked him if he had questions for me.  I mean I want to know that he is interested and not just responding to my questions like a robot.  I also saw a 68 yo guy who had a cute dog.  I just had to look at the profile.  Damn if the guy didn’t reach out to me.  I wrote him back and told him basically that I just buried my long time partner and I wanted someone more age appropriate because I didn’t want to sign up to bury/lose another partner.  I haven’t heard back from him, but I realized that I kind of implied that he was in ill health.  That is it at all he is 25 years older than I am and just by the numbers it’s obvious that he would go before me.  I have had enough battle with death and am not looking to go around that way again.

Tinder has been kind to me and I have made a couple matches there.  Younger guys, which I am not sure why they are interested in me when I am clearly older but hey.  I’ve reached out to them and am waiting on a response.

Grindr well that is like the least useful service of them all.  Just a hook up site.  I can take care of getting off by myself, I don’t need another guy for that.  The desire is certainly there to touch hot flesh, but sex is only 1 part of a relationship.  There is so much more that goes into it.  If we can’t hit it off w/o sex then what makes you think it’s going to be better w/sex?  Lots of fake people and people who don’t have profile photos.  I learned by the 1st 2 guys that I have made contact with, never chat with a guy unless he has a headshot and it’s of him and not some super star.  I understand anonymity but if your so afraid to show your face on a dating site then your not ready to find someone, just my 2 cents.

So another week of work, waiting and seeing what happens.  Plus we start the reporting thingy tomorrow and that won’t be any fun, at least not for me.  So that is it in my world.  Off to finish up laundry, clean the house, feed the children and prep for Monday.  Ugh, I can’t believe the weekend is coming to an end.  I so hate Sunday afternoons, they are so depressing.  I wish every day was Friday at 5pm, at least for a week.  Plus I wish that Friday’s would hurry up and rebuild in my area because I am so hungry for their food!  Meanwhile a piece of German Chocolate Cake and a tall glass of Milk is in my future.  Yup I said cake, not PIE.

Have an awesome week….talk with you peeps later.

Glad to hear you are slowly getting his office cleaned out. It may take some time, but I know once it is done you will feel good about it.

Hope your Monday goes well!
