I had some trouble staying asleep last night and thankfully I was permitted by Rudy to sleep in a little bit this morning before he started making biscuits on me. He’s always so cheerful in the morning wish I could be that way. I suppose if I had his life I would probably be that way, I’d have no worries or concerns, no bills or the stress of a job to deal with.
I saw the voicemail light was blinking and expected it to be my boss but I was surprised it was the barbershop telling me that my barber was out sick. They asked me to call back to reschedule. I did call but got a recording and just gave up. I figure by not showing up they will get the message.
I booked a haircut with a different place. I paid $13 more for the same thing but I got a good head job shampoo. Two shampoos and then conditioner. Even better just before I walked in a hot young guy walked in. He was wearing jogging pants that looked more like parachute pants. Needless to say he had a nice set of buns and they took him before me. That’s when I learned his name was Luke. Wow the things I wanted to do with and to him I am sure would probably have made him blush. I didn’t make a move, just enjoyed the little bit of a show that I got when he walked to the chair.
I came back home after that. It was super cold outside and I honestly just wanted to go back to bed. I sat in my recliner and had a cat curl up in my lap as I watched TV. We saw a live police chase in California. I managed to dose off in the middle of it but woke up in time to see everyone get caught.
I had my phone powered off because I was really certain that work was going to be reaching out. They never did. I checked email and there is a bombshell of an email waiting from my boss that I didn’t bother to read. I already know that there are a couple of urgent matters that I will need to tend to first thing on Monday morning because no one picked up the slack. That’s fine I’ll deal with it on Monday. I don’t plan on going to the office next week because not only will we be short staffed but I will be back on-call. My boss got a card for the mistake maker who just made a baby and wants us all to sign it. I’m hopeful that I can just get someone to sign my name and not send it to me, otherwise it’s not going to be sent back until next week when I am back in the office. I just hope that damn card doesn’t wind up exposing my secret.
As I sat watching TV the weather radio went off to warn of the impending Winter Storm that is coming. Turns out that couple at the Olive Garden yesterday was pretty spot on. Were in for one of those storms of the century. Freezing Rain aka Ice, Sleet and Snow. The worst estimate says about 18 inches and the best estimate says 12 inches. No one is going anywhere come Monday. This thing is expected to move in late tomorrow evening and then be going for the bulk of the day with a little lull in the afternoon before it starts back up again and doesn’t stop until mid-morning Monday. Thank God for the forewarning.
Given that I will be treating tomorrow as Sunday and get breakfast out and hit up the grocery store so that I can sit inside and watch out the window come Sunday. I’d like to go for pizza tomorrow afternoon but I will be watching the weather. Some good food and viewing of some nice buns can be postponed.
I went out this afternoon for Chinese food, hit up the post office on the way home and stopped by the pet food store to grab some dry food and a box of treats to have on hand, just so I don’t have to make a Target run (unless I really feel like it tomorrow morning).
Working on Laundry and Mora is here keeping me company. I’ve given her some attention and quite the ear rubbing that she loves. She is sleeping comfortably behind me. Rudy is upstairs playing all by himself and it sounds like the house is being ripped apart. I’ve learned that he has been getting up on the kitchen counter. He was up on my bathroom sink one evening when I was trying to sleep and he knocked over a glass which got me out of bed. What a little terror he is.
Everyone is out grabbing their milk, eggs, bread and toilet paper tonight. Traffic is thicker than a milkshake and it’s aggravating to try to drive anywhere just because of mass panic. It’s like the way traffic normally is at Christmas time. That’s why I think I am smarter for getting up early and getting a jump then because a lot of folks will sleep in. Just let me get my share of food and I will be out of everyone’s way. It’s predicted that there could be damage to trees or trees falling over and power being out. The majority of the power in my town is under ground so hopefully we won’t be affected with a power outage. That would suck buried in the snow, no power. At least I have an all wheel drive vehicle to be able to get out if I absolutely have to.
Not exactly an overly exciting day. If I felt a little bit better I think I would have accomplished more. At least I remembered to set the trash out.
Last night I got wound up fighting with Microsoft and the Authenticator app. I was so pissed that once I fixed everything and got it working in the new app I moved all of my accounts one by one. It took me a couple hours but I got it done. Mora objected to me being down here, she did her duty to warn me as if I had to work the next day. At least she was thinking of me. Eventually I got her to settle down as I worked through things.
I am so not ready to go back to work but I know that Monday will be here soon enough. For now I am just enjoying the time away and hope that the stress won’t be half as bad as I am expecting. I am sure I will want to scream. For now my plan is to just enjoy the weekend and try to relax as much as I can.
Crossing my fingers that both the weather and work next week won’t be nearly as bad as they are both expected to be!
Hope that all is well and you had a Fantastic Friday. Thanks for stopping by. Take care!
