Insomnia

Best laid plans … I woke up at 1:40a and managed to fall back asleep until 3a.  Then I was wide awake.  I wound up getting up and watching some TV.  Rudy was passed out next to me in bed but he woke up when I did.  For a little cat he sure can spread out in bed and hog the small space that we both have.

I was back asleep by 4a but opted to move the alarm clock up and told my biscuit maker that we were getting up at normal time.  I guess the little guy got hungry because he started making biscuits at 6:30a and I had to fend him off.  He wound up sleeping on top of me and giving me a temporary reprieve.  Each time I would go to peek at the clock he noticed and would start up.

I thought for sure I would feel horrible this morning but I’m not too shabby.  I did stay home and have plans to try to make it to the office tomorrow.  I’ll take some extra sleeping medicine tonight to hopefully make that a reality.

Surprisingly enough it wasn’t terribly cold this morning.  We were in the 50’s which is about 10 degrees warmer than we have been running.

My co-worker is back today and I am sure he is feeling the pressure.  I keep finding mess ups that he makes, thankfully or maybe not, his mistakes have been consistent.  I mopped up a bunch yesterday and caught one this morning.  I still pray that he gets it together but honestly I think a watermelon could do a better job.

Had a Marie Calendar’s Dinner last night.  Vermont Mac & Cheese.  I think I may have cooked it a bit too much as there was little cheese sauce.  It was okay but could have used something to kick up the flavor a bit.  I had a slice of cake for my desert when the cats ate their treats.  That sure was good.

Talked with a former co-worker and found out that she is miserable at her new job.  The culture is hostile and stuffy.  People are fickle and the rules she has to follow suck.  It’s a far cry from the promises she was made and gravy job that she thought she was going into.  Her doctor told her to go back to her old job as her body is reacting badly to all of the stress.  She told me that she plans to give it some time and if things don’t clear up then she will look for a new job.  It’s sad because she is almost ready to retire.  I don’t think a whole lot of places want an “old person”.  Perhaps I’m wrong but I do not envy her in the least.  It’s a story like this that kind of helps reassure me that I am making the right call.  Sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t know.  No place is going to be palm trees and bliss, which when you think about it is kind of sad.

Just trying to make it through the day, staying awake as much as possible so that I can hopefully have a good nights sleep.

I am a bit concerned about my rash on my neck.  I looked last night it’s all over my neck sides and back.  One side looks worse than the other, with some bumps.  The rest is just red.  It itches and burns at times.  Last night I decided to mix the Antifungal Cream with the OTC Steroid Cream.  Didn’t seem to make a whole lot of difference.  I’m thinking that I will likely need some medical attention.  I’m trying to be patient but a little voice is telling me that this is something I am going to be suck with long term.  I sure hope that isn’t true.  Makes me wish I never ever let anyone shave my neck.  I just want my normal skin back.  I do have sensitive skin but damn I’ve never had a reaction that lasted so long and was so intense.

When you have something medically wrong with you, the internet is not your friend.  You can go down some dark deep holes and think that you have something that you don’t even remotely have.  Still I think today with so much knowledge at your finger tips, it’s only natural to start searching the web.

Here’s hoping that it’s a great day for all of us.  Take care!
