Over this past holiday weekend I took some time and spent it with Spotify. Checking out new music and found some great tunes. One artist, JXDN (Jaden Hossler, age 21) really captured my attention. No matter how much of his music I consumed I wanted more. There are some dark lyrics and if your not in the right mind set I could foresee his music pushing one over the edge.
The song that I first listened to was called Beautiful Boy from singles that were just released called Songs for Cooper. Well that led me down a rabbit hole of trying to figure out who this Cooper was and what happened.
Cooper was Cooper Noriega who was found dead last month. This kid was only 19 and he had struggled with Mental Health Issues as well as Drug use/abuse. It sounds like he managed to kick his drug habit. However, he was discovered by a passer by slumped over the wheel. Based on what I have read it sounds like he OD but there is yet to be a cause of death released.
JXDN and Cooper were best friends and both straight. This was a sad conclusion to their friendship and it it was completely unexpected. JXDN seems to be still trying to recover and move forward. My heart goes out to him. I kind of wish his music wasn’t so dark as he probably would have landed on my radar a little sooner and that I didn’t discover him behind such a sad story.
I’ve struggled with wanting to post something and then just letting this go. Not exactly sure why other than its a sad story and I know that people in general don’t always want to read depressing news and no one really wants to be sad.
You can find JXDN’s music on Spotify and I am sure it’s on other major music streaming apps. There are videos on YouTube as well. Here’s a link to a story that Rolling Stone did and it has a link to the video Beautiful Boy and the other song Even in the Dark. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/jxdn-songs-cooper-noriega-death-1375455/
Music is a great thing and has many good affects and uses. I am very diverse when it comes to music and like a little bit of most everything. Pop and Rock are my main listens but I do go off the beaten path, it all kind of depends on my mood and the purpose behind listening. If it’s concentration I am after then instrumental music I find relaxes me and helps me to focus. I listen mostly for entertainment purposes – relaxation and/or something to take with me when I am out for a drive.
