I was thinking the other day that I really haven’t blogged much about being gay. What exactly is there to say? Sexuality and who you are attracted to as well as what things turn you on are just one of many parts to a persons life.
Gay people are like straight people, black people, Hispanic people. We are all human beings. We have wants, needs, desires and we all are individuals who act and feel differently – which is part of what makes us unique as people.
Being Gay is something people come to accept and deal with. Some people can’t accept it and never deal with it. Other people just can’t imagine how they will go on and decide to end their lives. Like I said in the 1st paragraph it’s just one of many parts to a persons life. Taking your life is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Believe me, I had my struggles with my sexuality and coming out to myself. I thought life was over and not worth living. However, when your younger you think in the now and not in the future. Kids can be cruel. However, kids turn into adults and with a little time and knowledge most people open their minds and are accepting that your different from them. It’s not like you have to walk around with a sign on your forehead or wearing a shirt…keep back 200 feet gay person. In most cases people will either figure it out or if your very straight acting they will never know.
If your lucky enough to figure out your sexuality when your in your teenage years and can come to terms with it, you can have a lot of fun. Going away to college changes things. You will find more resources and of course more guys who are just like you. Not that you have to have sex, but trust me you will want to. I never went to college but have lived in a college town and wow the guys look amazing!
So what I am trying to say is that you should just be yourself and be honest with yourself. As long as you love yourself, everything else will fall into place with a little time. I remember coming out to a friend and saying if you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them. So they asked who is the man and who is the woman? Well the answer to that question is we are both men. What they wanted to know is who takes it up the ass. Don’t dance around with words, just ask your question. The answer to that, in case your curious we both like it. Like the rainbow and it’s many colors, we are all unique. Some gay people like sports, others like to hang out at bars, some like leather, some like to stay home and drink beer. Gay, Straight, Black or White we are all people and what you get into sexually is your business. If you choose to make that public, that’s your choice. Coming out is a life long process because you have to do it over and over again. The first time, just like sex is awkward but if you get a good reception you will feel like a million bucks. Warning that all people won’t understand and it could potentially have negative side effects. Once you utter those words “ I am gay” you can NEVER take them back, so my advice is proceed with caution. Bottom line is live your life regardless of what you like. Just because someone comes out to you, doesn’t mean they want in your pants. They want you to know something very personal about them and they trust you, so be accepting and open. Nothing has to change in your friendship or relationship unless you want it to. They were gay yesterday before they told you and they will be gay tomorrow and the next day. There is no praying the gay away, no conversion therapy and no need for either. You are who you are and no one can change that no matter what!
