Good morning …
Last night I watched Marines on Netflix. It’s a new series that has 4 episodes. They are roughly 45 to 60 minutes each. You learn a bit more about what they have to do each day and how multi-functional they actually are. Not to mention you get to see some good looking shirtless men. It was a good watch not only for the insight but also the eye candy. Not sure if they will make a season 2 but I suppose anything is possible.
From a very young age I always wanted to be a Marine but knew deep down that I didn’t have the physical ability that is required. Plus the whole fact I’m gay and it was illegal to be gay and in the military when I was growing up. Who knows how different my life would be if I had joined, managed to suppress/hide my sexuality and made it. That’s something I will never have an answer to.
Had an overall decent day yesterday. Not a bunch going on at work and the boss was away so kind of nice. Shame all of that will end today and the boss will be back. Along with the meetings and likely the usual bs that accompanies that.
Supper last night was 4 Cheese Ravioli. It was okay. Polished off the horrible piece of carrot cake I got on Sunday from the place I have breakfast at. I’ll never get another piece of cake there. Might try a slice of pie if I get brave enough.
The cats were behaving mostly. Rudy didn’t gnaw on any furniture. He did beg me for some different food for supper he didn’t like what I passed out. Mora got a nice buffet for supper and she loved it, practically devouring the can of food her brother turned his nose up at. I loved to see her enjoying herself. I’m happy that they are both healthy and behaving normally. I know all too well what the flip side of that looks like.
I left the back blinds open in hopes that Mora nd I would see our visiting cat. However, it didn’t come back. Kind of how it is when your expecting something. I know it will be back but when I least expect it.
Grass guys showed up yesterday and they actually took time before they mowed to blow out the leaves from the landscape bedding, something they have never done before. I really appreciated that. Although my deck was mostly clean before they showed up and now it’s got some leaves on it. They could have done a better job but honestly I was shocked at the effort they put forth.
Apparently there is a new trend when sending emails that I’m not aware of. Either that or I am just highly observant. I have seen several emails where people at work send an email but there is no closing, just their signature. Is this the wave of the future? I think it’s strange and rude. I mean a simple Thanks, Regards, Best or whatever would be better than nothing. I should mention that the people that are doing this are in management so maybe it’s just a management thing.
My allergies are on fire this morning, not sure what that is all about. Got my first Windows 10 update yesterday since the OS reached end of life. Now I know for sure Microsoft’s ESU [Extended Security Updates] program works.
I saw an ad on social media last night for a friend to check up on you daily so you don’t feel lonely. That appealed to me and I went through the prompts wondering the whole way if this was going to be some AI bot that would call me everyday. They said it would be a real person but with the advancements technology has made it can be tough to tell. Well, once I was done with the questions they actually wanted me to pay for the service. They advertised prices as per cost daily so you had to do math to figure out the cost monthly. That was more than I was willing to do and backed out of that fast. I suppose you can capitalize on everything if you think about the right approach.
I had an Aunt that lived alone and the local Senior Citizens Center would call her everyday just to check to make sure she was okay. If they didn’t get an answer they called an emergency contact to check on her but they would continue to call everyday. It was a totally free service. I remember her telling me that she got so lonely that she would call time and temperature just to hear a voice. It didn’t make much sense to me at the time, but today it resonates with me. Oddly enough that service was phased out and she wound up dying alone and sat for a couple days before her kids found her body. It was very sad.
Unless something changes in my life, I fully expect that I will die alone and my body will sit for days if not months before someone finds it. I’ve mentioned this to the few friends that I have and no one picks up on the hint I’m dropping (check in on me once and a while) but no takers yet. I’m not expecting to kick the bucket anytime soon but tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us.
On that happy peppy note I guess I will wrap this up. Hope that you have a good day. Just a couple more days before the weekend is here again. Hip Hip Hooray!

That's sad you're feeling so lonely. Anyone around that you can connect with?
Loneliness comes in waves. Usually the worst times are holidays, birthdays and anniversary. Getting out even if it's going for a bite to eat is kind of my answer but that doesn't always do the trick. Sometimes I just suffer in silence. I've made it this far for many years I just try to keep chugging along.
