As I was trying to leave for the day yesterday I ran into multiple people that I haven’t seen in a while. They were surprised that I was in the office. I got asked if I plan to come in regularly or if I was still working remote. I said I will do mostly remote but I am in usually on Tuesday’s. One of those people was a big wig so hopefully this doesn’t all blow up in my face. I know that eventually it will and I have no idea how I will deal with it other than just walking away. Only the people that are closely watched by their direct supervisor are in the office, otherwise everyone plays the system. There are still exceptions for certain job types where they don’t have to come in at all. It’s an unfair rule overall I mean we all have proven that the place operates and actually earns more money when everyone is remote. Profits still continue but honestly there is no earthly reason for me lugging my fat ass into sit in the sky in an office where I can do the same thing from home. I know that my job isn’t intended to be fully remote but at the same time I am still doing my job and it actually costs the business less since I am not using any of their water, toilet paper or electricity. It costs and affects me in that I have to invest time to commute, putting myself at risk each way to be in an accident or have vehicle problems, then there is the cost of gasoline and wear & tear on my vehicle. I get the idea that I am supposed to be in the office and that long before the pandemic I was a sucker and did it 5 days a week. However, it’s smarter and more efficient for everyone to let me keep working how I am. With all of the BS I have to endure I think that this is not an impossible ask and frankly there is only one person on our team that is in the office more than necessary and his health is by far the worst. Our boss is in damn near every day but does work remote on occasion. Let it be – don’t talk about it and just sweep it under the rug. That’s pretty much the motto my team has developed and well I am not going to ruffle any feathers no sense in bringing it up.
Okay now that is done. I made it home by 4p and the work continued to pour in but I was gone for the day so I made everything wait until this morning. I was super busy for a few hours and then got caught up. Right now I am in a lull until 11a when there is another waste of time meeting to attend.
The cats were really happy to see me and I was happy to see them. Something about that blissful feeling it’s special and I enjoy it so much. Got them calmed down, put away my stuff and then got out of my clothes. Had supper which was 1/2 of a Spaghetti & Meatballs and then I had some cheese cake for dessert. Sat on the couch and Morea wanted some loving. I took care of her and as soon as she left I grabbed my laptop. I had a quest to move my indoor cameras over to my guest network. I saw a large dog run through my yard and pretty soon a lady was walking up the street carrying a leash. She was chasing the dog. I watched it unfold and then realized she could probably use a hand. I got dressed and went to help out. Boy what a dumb ass thing to do after eating a meal. I was convinced I could get the dog but damn it growled at me but the lady said it wouldn’t bite me. I helped her chase it through the neighborhood and then back to my house. She lived a couple doors down and the dog eventually took off for home. I had to walk back to get my vehicle and damn my heart was beating so much I thought it was going to jump out of my chest. I was exhausted and winded. That was a lot of work and I made it back home. I like to help where and when I can but damn that really took the life out of me.
This morning when I woke up my hip and back were sore like I went through a marathon. I did a little bit of running last night but not much. I was in dress shoes so not exactly ideal for running. I think Rudy beat me up during the night.
We all settled in and I had no issues with sleeping. I did wake up a couple times but managed to go back to sleep. Rudy was next to my head a few times throughout the night sleeping away and also bathing me, which woke me. He is so damn cute and appreciative, I don’t get how anyone gave this cat up. I’d like to but I am so attached. Morea is a sweet but she has to get to know you. I can tell she too is thankful but she expresses it differently than her brother. She knows that he’s the social person for both of them so he is always out front. I sure got lucky to get them. I hope only goodness follows for both them and I for many, many years.
I am going to take my Orange break and see the cats. It was really strange about an hour ago I was working away and it’s all quiet down here. Then something or someone sneezed. Not once but twice. I walked around and looked but saw no one. I thought one of the cats was down here with me. They might have been in the bathroom and sneezed. That’s the only logical thing I can think of other than a ghost is here with me.
Hope you have a great day. I will talk with you all again soon. Be well!
