Remember that Mont Blanc Outlet store I said I found? Well good thing that I checked it from a PC and didn’t make a purchase from my phone (which I never buy anything from my phone unless it’s an app subscription on my phone). Turns out the site is malicious. I thought something was up because a writing instrument that is selling for $500 on reputable sites can’t possibly sell for $95 on a so called Outlet store. If it was then what I would get would probably be counterfeit for certain. They also seemed to have a good portion of the Mont Blanc Collection and most everything that I saw had the $95 price but a few things went for a bit more.
Even if I would have moved forward with a purchase I would have used a virtual credit card and after the initial authorization was submitted I would have locked the card. That is my standard practice for one-time purchases from random sites. I use it from everything for physical goods to porn subscriptions and it’s worked out well for me. The best use case is those auto renewing anti-virus subscriptions. If I can buy today at a discount but the catch is that it auto renews in a year then I will use one of these cards to get the special price but there won’t be any auto renewal because the card will have been locked and deleted by then. Once it’s locked it is useless and deleted well you will never ever get the same number back again.
It’s that old saying if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. I’m always skeptical and glad that I checked this site out from my PC to find out it truly was too good to be true. Funny thing is that the site actually checked out 5 years ago but when I requested an updated scan that’s when it turned malicious. Google warned me first. I’m kind of surprised that I was able to reach the site even from my mobile phone because I’ve got a decent level of protection in place that guards from malicious sites. Ah well at least I know now and that is the important thing.
On the work front I’ve got some frustration. I’m being asked to do something that due to confidentiality restrictions it’s not possible to do right now. My gut tells me to wait so that is exactly what I am doing. No one is pushing me and well until it becomes public I am really stuck. Hopefully, that happens soon.
My Amazon Subscribe & Save delivery came at lunch time. Morea & Rudy were napping and when I got up that woke them. I can’t really make any moves without waking them up. We were all on the couch. The wind was really blowing and it’s cold out but otherwise it looked like a nice day. I opened the back door for them and they love to sit and listen to the birds and see things blowing around. They like fresh air and well so do I but no pollen for me. They had a really good time and I like to see them happy and entertained.
I am about ready to call it a day and work just sent something that I had to jump on. I’ve got the crisis resolved but have a question, you’d think the person who sent it would be eager to respond to me but nope nothing but crickets. I will wait a little bit but not much longer. I am ready to head up.
I’ve got some mini beef & bean burritos the grocery store made. I am going to have them for supper. Then a vanilla ice cream and orange sherbet mix for desert. That should cool down my mouth and hopefully quell my stomach. The chili went over really well until I was ready to go to bed and then heart burn city. I will take a pill before I eat this meal just to error on the side of caution.
Here’s hoping it’s a good night for all and that tomorrow is an even better day. It will start off sucking for me due to getting up early and the commute but hopefully it goes well from there. I know there is a gift waiting for me at work but I have no idea what it is so that is part of the draw. The other part is that I need to show my face and check on a couple of people. Hopefully time permits for some socialization.
