Working from home

When I woke up I was thinking, what a great day to work from home.  Little did I know I was predicting the future.  I went through my normal routine and headed out.  Got my vehicle all wet and I was quite unhappy about it.

I knew in advance that my normal way had some flooding and 2 accidents.  The news said to triple the commute time.  That would be 3 hours for me and no way was I sitting in traffic for 3 hours just to get to work, so not worth it.  I opted to take a secondary route.  They had constructions over the weekend but it was all supposed to be back open by 6a this morning.  It was 7:15a and the route was still closed.  The rain hampered their efforts.  It started last night around 10p and it was a walloping storm.

We got a wakeup call around 3a warning of a flash flood.  That made all of the cats meow but I just rolled over and went back to sleep.  I thought 3 more hours, ah.  Then I had this strange dream of buying a new car.  I knew full well my credit was frozen and was waiting to see what would happen.  I can’t tell you if I was approved or denied because I woke up far too soon.

Back on the work theme – I sent a note out to let my team know I would be working from home and I got a reminder back from my boss that he will be late and he is on-call so we need to cover for him.  Fucktard, I already knew all of that.  I don’t need a reminder and am not a child but I play along.

Once again I think they think when I say I am working from home that I am eating bon-bon’s on the couch and casually looking at email.  Nope I am fully dressed, got my eye glasses on and am sitting here at my computer.  Watching and waiting to spring into action.  All of my morning tasks are done so now I am bored to stone and ready for a nap.  It’s no different than if I was sitting in my cube at work.

Looking forward to lunch time.  Braunschweiger sandwich with cheese and miracle whip.  Cool Ranch Doritos.  Soda and 2 no sugar added cups of peaches.  Plus I will have to pass out cat food.  The bright side is I’ll be here all day and I have an Amazon Delivery coming.  I’d rather be at work but this is like the next best thing.

I did some Googling last night and learned all about Google Classroom.  It’s pretty neat.  No more paper you do all of your work on-line and with hangouts you can video chat with the teacher.  It’s almost like you don’t need to come to school, you could do it all from home but school mandates attendance.  I think the long term future of education could easily be headed from abandoning campus/buildings and doing it all from home or a remote location.  That’s just my opinion who knows what the future will bring.  High School is important and so is social interaction, sports, clubs, etc.

Well I guess I should go back to staring at my monitor in case some actual work rolls in.  Hope your having a great Monday as Monday’s go.  Talk with you again soon.
