Broken Silence

Last night my angry former friend decided to call. He figured out rather quickly that I blocked his number. I got a nasty email from him telling me that he doesn’t give a damn. Yeah, I already knew that. I mean if he truly cared then he wouldn’t have been so cruel to me in the first place.

Conflict/Disputes come up in our lives regardless if we want them to happen or not. It’s how we respond to them that helps shape us. It’s easy to be a hot head and fly off the handle, which is what my former friend did. While I’d love to know his reasoning it’s something that I’ll probably never figure out

I want to respond to the email and find out why he decided to act like a child and hang up on me but I suspect that conversation would spiral out of control and there would be no good that comes from it. Other than him letting off steam. I am fairly certain that it would have done further harm to me mentally and I just can’t afford to take that chance. So, I am not responding to the email and he has no confirmation that I received it. My plan is to remain silent, that should speak volumes. I called him several times and he chose not to answer after we were disconnected, long before I figured out that it was no accidental disconnect and that he in fact hung up on me. We had a text conversation going last Friday and he had an opportunity then to fix things but he chose to be ignorant and remain silent about it, leaving me to further 2nd guess myself.

Now it’s my turn to show him what that feels like. He’s no dummy and the message will soon hit him that he fucked up what was a good friendship. I’m the 3rd person this year that he has lost his shit with and pushed away. He’s all alone now other than 1 friend in California and they don’t talk that much. There are creative ways one can apologize but to send an email telling someone you don’t give a damn if they blocked you isn’t one that comes to mind. He needs serious help because he is mentally unstable. I hope that he realizes that sooner rather than later. I wish him all the best and hope that things turn out okay for him.

As much as part of me would like to solve this conflict, the bigger part of me says it’s time to cut ties and move on. So that is what I am doing. There is plenty of negative, stress and painful things that come with everyday life and I see no reason to add to them. Getting his hateful email before bed just wrecked what would have been a good night’s sleep. I even wound up wetting the bed. So, to say that this isn’t upsetting me would be a lie. However, I’ve grown used to the silence as well as the peace & quiet. I mean he was the only person that would call me just to chit-chat and make sure that I was okay. Funny thing here is that each of us thinks our actions are justified and right. I realize that might not be so but I have to look out for my wellbeing because no one else is tasked with that job.

If you have feedback to offer, I’m all ears but I understand that you might not want to get in the middle of a squabble.  Just wanted to get this off my chest.

In other news the next episode of 13 Reasons Why is the last and it’s an hour and I think 17 minutes long. Things have sure gotten interesting and they still have me guessing as to who did it and why. I have my theory and will just have to wait and see what happens. I think this might be the last year for the show, it’s based around High School and kids are only in HS for 4 years. Most of the characters have to be Seniors by now but the show doesn’t really speak to that. Hey I could be wrong and they might keep this going. It’s a great show and deals with very heavy topics like sex, drugs, rape, suicide and murder. These are all things that are too common place in society let alone high school (minus the murder part for high school). The world has certainly changed from when I was a kid and life as a teenager is much different than when I was growing up. As much fun as it would be to go through the technology advantages that kids have today, I wouldn’t want to deal with the other issues at play. Being a kid, which includes a teenager is an innocent time and that shouldn’t be messed with as things that happen during that time will shape your future. I realize you aren’t a kid forever and have to eventually step into adulthood so learning along the way is important but so is having fun.

Well off to clean the house and get ready for Monday. Hope your weekend is going well. Weather is nice here but rain is in the forecast. Temperatures are a little bit cooler. Thanks for stopping by I’ll talk with you again soon.
