Morning and happy Monday (if there is such a thing). Sunday was a good day but Saturday was my best day this weekend. Rudy woke me up early and I wound up staying up, passing out breakfast for him and his sister. Then watching TV. I tried to go back to bed but it was no use.
I ventured out for breakfast. I ordered the Omelet that I had my eye on. Turns out it wasn’t so great. They used smoked sausage and not pork sausage which ruined it. I found out I could sub in Pork Sausage, so I am going to give that a go next weekend to see if we can’t turn this experience around. I did try something new that I have never had in my life. Fried Grits. They came out like mini pancakes and there were 3 of them. You could still see the steam rising on them fresh from the fryer. I didn’t know they put Maple syrup in them for a dash of sweetness. I sprinkled some sugar substitute on top, then cut off a slice. Damn it was so good! Something new they just introduced.
I wound up striking up a conversation with my waitress and if it would have been a waiter then I would have called it flirting. She’s waited on me from the first time I went to this place. I wanted to ask her about the cute waiter that has been absent for a while but I figured that it was probably best not to, so I didn’t but I came close.
Afterwards I ventured off to the grocery store. Then hit up the gas station and was home for the day. I didn’t really buy a whole lot of groceries but there were a couple of high priced items I did grab, still managed to spend almost $100 and there wasn’t any soda in the cart. That is usually what drives up the price. I did however stop and look at their office supply section. I saw a 2 pack of Papermate Ink Joy Pens that had a comfort grip. One was a Royal Blue and the other a horrible shade of Blue. It was a $3 purchase and medium point. I was a sucker and had to have it. Turns out they write really well. They are similar to Pilot G-2’s but that’s my original go to cheap pen. The Papermate Ink Joy’s dry faster so there is no smearing, which is great. You can swap the refills into a Pilot G2 but the point sticks out a bit when in use.
There are a few things I am a sucker for that draws me in like a moth to a flame. Guys, Porn, Food, Cars, Chocolate, Sweets, Pens and some Challenge Coins. Not in that order. I can look at Cars and walk away because I only need 1 of them but for some reason they really appeal to me now that I am older. Didn’t much matter when I was younger. Spending $3 for 2 pens is a lot better than dropping $500 for one fancy pen. I’ve got 1 on my list that has climbed in value from $300 to $500 and it tends to stay around the $400 mark close but not quite $500. I want it really bad and have been close to giving in but have managed to resist thus far. It’s one of my ultimate must haves. On one hand I think life is short get it and on the other hand I think it’s a damn pen you need it like you need another hole in your head, save your money.
I digress though. Back on point. After unloading the groceries I got undressed and sat in my chair watching TV until eventually I was drowsy enough and took a nap with the cats. It was about 30 minutes.
Then up and on to laundry. I spent about an hour and thirty minutes on playing around with a friends business logo. I know they just changed things up and they are remodeling the office part. I got this idea weeks ago about getting them a couple of custom name plates with their business logo and names on it. They each own a piece of the business so they aren’t into titles. I had to alter the logo on my PC and it took me a bit because I am limited on the software I have, but I managed to get it done. Had to use some brain power for that one. Then what I wanted was a large block of acrylic that would display the logo next to their name. I found a site on line that would permit me to design and preview and it didn’t break the bank. What I made looked awesome on-line, I just hope it turns out the same when it arrives. Neither of them knows what I am up to and I am having them shipped to me so that I can deliver them in person. They should be in by the end of the month. There is a 100% satisfaction guarantee so if I don’t think they would like it or I want to chicken out I can always return them. However, I am more interested in seeing their reactions. I’m hoping nothing bad comes from this but it’s a good deed and a gift so I think I am overthinking it a bit. I’m not looking for anything in return. They were there for me when Gator passed and I really appreciate it. Hey I’d like a job there too but I don’t think that would work out well. It’s just one of those places that I like to spend time at and around them. I am giddy with excitement and eager to see the finished product. It would be great if it’s here when I have a couple days off in a few weeks but I honestly don’t expect it until the very end of the month, in which case I may go see them on April fools day which would be extra funny at least to me.
I switched out the UPS in my room. I cussed at Gator because I found bits of her food dried up behind the stereo cabinet in my room, along with more mouse droppings. I thought I had them all cleaned up but you move a couple of wires and they crop up. Took me a few minutes to get all of that cleaned up. Then I tried to get the stereo speakers hooked up to the TV so I could listen and watch all TV in stereo. Imagine porn in stereo, that would make all of the screams that much louder. Well sadly the TV that I have looked like it supported it but it doesn’t. I figured out I could hook up the speakers to my U-verse Box and it would work with that but I opted to not do it. Now that everything is in place I’m re-thinking that it might be better. My real desire here is when I watch movies via Roku to listen in Stereo. However, the Roku box I have doesn’t have any inputs for sound, it’s all done via HDMI. I’ve got a TV in the basement in my office that I think might work but I really don’t want to lug that up since I am not 100% confident and it would require more work and reprogramming of remotes.
My most difficult time was getting everything connected and then doing the test to confirm everything would power up. The way that APC labeled the outlets on the UPS was very confusing and I thought the damn thing was broken until I did some experimenting. Right now as it stands I use 20% of the load with the TV on and 4% of the load with the TV off. If the TV is on and the power goes out I can continue to watch for about 30 minutes and then it’s all dead as a door nail. I left the display on because I thought it was cool to look at. Turns out it really lights up the room when the lights are out at night.
This morning I toggled the display off so tonight I should sleep in more darkness. My back hurts from having to get on the floor and wrestle all of this around. The UPS isn’t exactly light with 2 lead acid batteries in it and they are all of the weight. I also managed to some how power up my DVD player which I don’t use because there is a DVD player built into the TV. I need to unplug that and when I venture down that road is when I will plug the stereo in and it up to the U-Verse box. Then I’ve got to get out the remote and batteries for the stereo system. I haven’t used it in years but it worked like a charm yesterday. It’s even got 2 tape decks in it but all of my cassettes are here in the basement sitting on a shelf in the laundry room surrounded by a mountain of junk I couldn’t get to if my life depended on it. Besides that most every record and tape that I have in my collection is available on Spotify. I do have a larger CD collection in my room and just think of all of the money tied up in that. Then bust open the video cabinet and look at all of the porn I invested in, there was some serious money dropped. If I would have known that one day it would all be on the internet for free I wouldn’t have spent the money. I still have a working VCR but obviously I don’t use it.
On to the cats. Morea managed to find something on the floor in the kitchen. It was by the stove so it’s probably something I dropped from grabbing a quick bite. All I know is she ate that and then hours later she wanted to be left alone on the couch. She sat there for hours and it was quite alarming but turns out she’s fine. She came to bed last night and was all over me this morning not wanting me to leave to head down for work. Rudy tried to have sex with her again last night. I had to break that up multiple times and despite her growling and smacking him he just kept trying to go back for more. I do not understand this. I think that something went seriously awry when he was altered but I won’t be able to find out more until we see the vet whenever that happens. It’s on my list of things to talk about but neither of them has an appointment and I’d like to keep it that way.
Morea seems to be a vacuum cleaner, last week she ate some of my pizza that I dropped by accident. I need to watch the floor a bit more carefully and clean up anything that drops before she manages to find it.
Both of the cats were excited this morning, I opened the shade to the back door and it’s going to be 70 today. Might open the door to let them do some sniffing, that will make them happy. I looked at the weather and temps are kind of all over the place this week. 2 days of rain and of course one of those days is on Thursday when I have to put the trash out. Were for sure into Spring. Won’t be long before the grass is being cut, more money flying out of my bank account, and bring on the shirtless good looking guys. Not that I get to see many of them in real life but when I do it’s really nice. Almost time to go boyfriend hunting!
Had left overs from Saturday night last night. They were good. I am finishing that up tonight. Boy it’s just so damn good, I eat it and it makes me smile inside and out. Now that’s good food! I had 1 cold onion ring. I’ve got 2 more left and plan to enjoy them tonight. Plus finishing off the cake which has dried up as I chipped away at it. Then Tuesday night I’ve got Spaghetti ready made from the store. After that it’s back to Frozen food. Yuk!
I have had multiple interruptions in trying to get this post out. Two people quit, my pharmacy calling for some BS medication review which I didn’t want or need, my dumb colleague who can’t think for himself and wanted me to tell him how to handle something. I wanted to say dude, you just got a promotion, be smart and figure it out. I’m not going to wipe your ass for you. However, I was nice about it but kept the conversation short and rushed him to get off the phone. Funny thing is before he pissed me off we used to talk for hours, now every conversation we have is super short and that’s by design. I might feel a little better if I could kick him in the nuts and slap his face but I seriously doubt that would take away all of the anger. Thankfully he’s at least 260 + miles from me, which is a good thing for both of us.
Here’s hoping that the rest of the day is quiet. I can enjoy some good food, take in some sunshine and find some good porn. I plan on going in tomorrow unless my back is killing me. It’s supposed to be another nice day. Take care and I will talk with you all again soon.
