Morning again! I was able to leave the office early yesterday as I had planned. It was largely an uneventful and boring day. I got tired of freezing my ass off when I was in my office. They run AC year round so sometimes when the blower kicks on you get AC and sometimes you get heat. Heat oddly is only run in the late fall and winter seasons. I have had a space heater in my office that doubles as a fan. It’s got a thermostat and oscillates to circulate the air around. It’s tiny thing but does a mighty job. Well I turned it on yesterday and true to form I forgot all about it when I left. I’ve been thinking about it all night long. However, it’s not going to burn the place down since it cycles off and on. If the unit is tipped over it shuts off. I haven’t turned it on in quite a very long time. Space heaters of any type/kind are prohibited and you can get it taken if caught. They don’t give them back and I paid a decent amount for this unit. I am just going to gamble and see what happens. I plan to be back in the office next week despite not really wanting to be.
Bossman wrangled us all together in a “huddle” (as if were in a football game) to ramble on and not really talk about anything in particular other than the weather at each of our locations. He just loves to hear the sound of his own voice. I should get him a tape recorder for Christmas and he could talk and play it back non stop, maybe that would cut down on our meetings, at least until the batteries died. LOL He’s got an iPhone I wish he would do what I do and open the weather app. It will tell you the weather damn near anywhere in the world. He must think he’s Willard Scott. I didn’t miss him while he was gone and wish that he was still gone. Were back to boring BS meetings, damn! In any event he has a meeting that will occupy most of his day today and for that reason he pushed our normal Wednesday meeting to Thursday. He called out a co-workers birthday that happens to be on Thursday. This year he forgot my birthday and made no mention of it at all, even before and/or afterwards. I know if I say anything he will say it was an “honest mistake” but that is horseshit because he’s got all of our birthdays on his calendar.
Something to be thankful for today is that he’s tied up in a meeting and won’t be bothering me. He’s already given me an assignment to work with someone to take care of a couple things but I am waiting on that person to make contact with me. Other than that my day is wide open and who knows what will happen here. I’ll probably goof off and watch TV maybe even take a nap. Napping is the one sure fire way to attract work, people will flock to me if I manage to close my eyes for any length of time. Had a quick hot dog for supper but I also had some cookies a bit later for a snack. Cats had their usual treats and cat nip, so they were happy. Mora bugged me until I gave in and that doesn’t take long because she likes to get destructive when she wants something. Damn she’s got me trained well.
Driving home last night it was overcast and rainy. That was new as it was supposed to be a dry but cold day. Thankfully most of the rain didn’t really pickup in volume until I was closer to home. I wanted to grab the mail but bypassed that and drove home so I didn’t have to get out and get wet. The cats were happy to see me as per usual. I got them fed and got comfy. Once I was idle the tiredness just washed over me and it kept getting worse as the evening wore on. By 8p I was laying in bed watching TV and waiting to fall asleep. That didn’t take terribly long.
Time to balance the books today and see how best I can occupy my day while standing by for any work related issues that crop up. Thrilled that I am not on-call.
