Gloomy Thursday

Morning everyone!  I hope all is well.  It’s a gloomy overcast Thursday here but the temps are back to normal and the rain has stopped, at least for a bit.  My AC I think is enjoying the rest.  I have woken up in the middle of the night a couple times this week and it’s freezing cold in here.  It feels good but I just get under the covers and it’s back to sleep.  The house isn’t that cold during the day but it’s comfortable.  The lawn looks green again for the most part there are still sections that have fried in the sun that aren’t coming back until next year.

I got to spend the afternoon upstairs and used my laptop for any issues that came up.  There were a few but mostly I was able to write.  Had a different lunch.  A soft warm pretzel, a little mustard and light salt.  Grabbed a soda to wash it down with and it was good.  That got my brain to thinking and I came up with an idea that I tried later in the evening.  I used the Super Pretzel that you get in the freezer section.  You have to get them wet so the salt will stick.  I did that but instead of coating it with salt, I used Cinnamon & Sugar.  Then microwaved it and it wasn’t the best but it wasn’t bad either.  I enjoyed it.

I had some time on social media yesterday and that was enjoyable.  Spent time with Rudy & Mora.  They slept most of the time I was writing and working.  However, their bodies know when it’s time for food and they magically spring to life.  I thought for sure since I ate so little for lunch my sugar would have dropped but it didn’t.  I got up and fed them.  I had some Fettuccini which was pretty good.  Then back to the paper and pen.

AT&T and Nexstar Media who owns a lot of local channels across the county and is the largest broadcaster have had their contract expire.  They are working on negotiating but from what I see on line this looks to be a fight that is going to go on for the long haul.  It’s speculated that it will be settled either at the start of Fall TV or shortly there after.  Each side is blaming the other and it’s kind of a huge mess.  For me this means I don’t get to see the local news when I want to.  I have to record from a different local channel and then watch it when I wake up to find out what was going on.  I don’t get breaking news or traffic in the morning and when I am going in to the office that kind of sucks but thankfully I use GPS so it’s all worked out so far.  It’s just a huge pain and I wish they would sign a new agreement.  I know I am going to pay for it in the end, the question is how much?  I looked at YouTube TV and that sounds really appealing especially with unlimited DVR space and the addons they offer.  I don’t see a contract is required but the price isn’t cheap, then again what TV provider do you know that is comparable to cable that offers reasonable prices after their promotional period ends?  This might just make me sound old but damn, I remember when TV used to be free, you didn’t have a gazillion channels to watch but you never had any outages, maybe a little snow but you adjust the rabbit ears and that went away.  My how times have changed.  I like the variety but not necessarily the cost.

My plate is empty for the rest of the day.  I am going to try to repeat yesterday by working upstairs.  Starting with a little nap, then lunch and writing.  I keep looking at my work email and something else manages to keep coming in as I am composing this.  Might have to hang down here for a bit longer.

Anyway, have a good day.  Stay cool & hydrated.  Be Safe and I will talk with you again.
