I crunched the numbers again last night and obsessed over this red 2021 model that had been sitting on a dealers lot. I was prepared to put the wheels into motion and buy it. I called this morning and found out that it was sold last week. I suppose what I said last night “if it’s meant to be, it will happen” applies. I guess I should just keep what I have and be happy. However, I learned in making the call that dealers of the brand I am interested in are no longer allowed to order stock. The days of walking into a dealership, test driving and buying a car are coming to an end. Everything is factory order. I don’t know how your supposed to test drive it to find out if you truly like it but I suppose Manufacturers don’t care about that. The sales guy tried to get me to bite for something they had on the lot or to place an order. Everything they have in stock is either white or black. There are no bright colors. White shows dirt and is difficult to keep clean. Black retains heat and hasn’t been my good luck color. I think both look fine but in the end it’s my money and I want what I want. I would have only compromised on the Red model because the price was right. There is nothing like that around now.
I looked at getting a new extended warranty and that could cost me about $3 thousand dollars but give me more insurance for a longer period of time. My present warranty expires in September. That’s usually the best time to buy because dealers in the old days were trying to clear their lots and the incentives were there. I really would like to capitalize on the fact that my trade in is worth more than I owe on it so I am certain to get a good deal regardless of what I buy so long as the base price is reasonable. Based on what I see via the web it’s all Black & White at the moment. I was told that there is some final stock that should be arriving soon but nothing in a bright color. I will just have to keep an eye out and maybe later this year strike a deal.
My credit is frozen at all 3 bureaus mostly for my protection but it also prevents me from making a large impulse purchase like I want to do now. I found out that it used to take 24 to 48 hours to thaw your report but now it can be done within an hour or two. That’s quite an improvement.
It’s kind of a let down since I was so close and so psyched up. Now I am coming down from all of those feelings and it’s not the most pleasant thing in the world but I’ve been through worse. Sometimes we don’t appreciate what is right in front of us and as much as I want to move now on this, I think this is the universe saying keep what you have and be patient.
The Gator woke me up last night and I didn’t know she was right where my feet would land when I got out of bed. It was a surprise to me and she was not happy. However, she got her food despite being banned from my room for the evening. I needed to catch up on sleep and as it was she had me up for an hour. I sat in my room and watched TV via my headphones so as to not alert or disturb her. When I was ready to climb back in bed, I peeked in on her via the camera and she was just climbing into bed after drinking some water. Funny she never made a sound when she got her water but if it was daylight she would be crowing up a storm. I think she is a bit smarter than what I give her full credit for.
Honestly, I haven’t done a whole lot at work since I was consumed by the whole car thing. I have plenty waiting for me and lucky for me my afternoon is wide open so I maybe able to accomplish something meaningful after all.
Happy Thursday! Hope all is well in your neck of the woods and life is treating you well. Come back again to find out what I’m up to. Thanks for stopping by!
