Survived the night

Made the night with out the alarm system, everything is in tact this morning.  It’s just odd not to have to turn the system off or hearing the chime when I open a door.  I do not have high hopes that the replacement backup battery will remedy the situation but when it arrives I will install it and power the system backup.  If it works great I can cancel the service call.  If it doesn’t work then I will leave it hooked up and see if it magically comes to life.  I’ve pretty well decided that I am willing to throw some money at it to bring it back to life but I don’t want to spend a small fortune.

The alarm industry preys on your fear and insecurity.  Having the alarm won’t stop a burglary or determined thief, you’ll just get notified that it’s happening and help will be on the way.  Knowing all this I still like the comfort feeling it gives me.  Might be a false sense of security but it’s something I’ve grown used to.

Slept actually pretty good.  I don’t feel super refreshed but it was nice to not have an insomnia attack.  Just need to make it through today and then work is pretty much done.  I’m still on-call but the likely hood that something will come up will be slim.  I will have some testing to do come Sunday morning.  Vacation officially starts for me on Monday.

Then when I come back I will only have to work 4 days because we will be celebrating Independence Day so that will be a short week.  Then the following week I only have to work 3 days because I scheduled time off to see the doctor.  It will be nice break but sadly it will all play out way too fast.  Here’s hoping that I am happier as this time goes by.

It’s kind of like I told a colleague if my personal life was more like my professional life I would have way less stress and troubles.  Once again I hope for a great day for all of us.  Take care!
