All smiles

This has been one helluva week.  Lots of pressure and feelings of being overwhelmed.  There were several surprise departures that cropped up and one of them was someone that I have worked with in the past getting fired.  I never know the details but I can tell by the way things go down if your leaving on your own or if your being shoved out the door kicking & screaming.  My boss got in part of his vacation, which was good for him but not for me.  This whole performance improve windows 10 project is a bunch of people just guessing and throwing stones.  We call it the scrambled eggs call because that is exactly what it is.  I think some good will come of it but it’s going to take time.  I still feel taken advantage of with this new role.  The dick head that wanted to announce my promotion has decided to remain silent.  I’m going to push hard on that, I want it known that I am being rewarded.  It may come late but better late than never.  Phew I feel like I need a week off after working 4 days.  Things will be better once I am no longer on-call.  It will be a nice 2 week break but there will still be the regular work week to churn through.

My back is killing me, the massage therapist didn’t show this week.  I got to save some money but that didn’t solve my problem.  I have some knots that need some serious working.  It’s either that or I take a much stronger muscle relaxer which will render me unconscious for the better part of a day.  Considering I am on-call that is not an option.  I mean I probably could get away with it but I don’t want to chance things, it’s like tempting fate.  Generally not a good idea.

This morning I had to visit the dentist again but this was a regular scheduled visit and not an emergency.  Things went well and I got good news.  I also came home with a ton of toothpaste.  I asked for extra in lieu of a toothbrush.  I’ve got 2 electrics that I use and a manual brush would just get added to the collection I started many years ago.  They do come in handy but I generally don’t use them unless I’m traveling.  So I am all smiles that I got good news.  I managed to make it out the door without them asking for money and I was really surprised at that.  I know for certain I owe them from my emergency visit but if they don’t ask or send a bill, I am not going to volunteer to give my money away.  Besides that I have a very strong feeling a bill will be forthcoming.

On the way to the dentist I stopped to grab the mail.  Not much there but I knew a late Christmas card was waiting for me. I made the mistake of opening it in my vehicle and the damn thing was loaded with glitter.  As you can well imagine glitter is everywhere.  I don’t know why they make such messy cards.  If your sending a glitter card it should come with a warning so you don’t get an unpleasant surprise.  Had there been such a warning I would have opened it at home.  It was nice to hear from a former co-worker/friend.

I went out for supper to Cracker Barrel and got to see one of my favorite good looking waiters.  My brother reached out to me shortly after I sat down.  He’s depressed and wanted to come over.  I said come on.  I invited him to join me for supper but he said he needed to take a shower first.  He takes more showers than anyone I know.  He gets so much as a bead of sweat and he needs a shower.  Part of that mentality comes from the abuse we had to endure as children.  Anyway I got back home and told him come on.  He said he was on the way but he was going to stop for some fast food.  A little over an hour passed and I was wondering where he was and then I got a message that he wasn’t coming.  He got sick and puked so he had to go home and you guessed it, take a shower.  He said he was going to take his medicine and go to bed.  Last week he had some stomach bug.  I think the bug has passed and this is all nerves.  He sounds like he is a wreck over this break up.  He told me that he just can’t seem to move on.  I told him the cure for that is to keep busy.  The end of a relationship can be traumatic and have different effects on different people.  I’ve never been through a breakup but I can imagine it’s not fun.  Right now without having further information I would say that this has the better of him and he is confused about how to move forward.  If you think about it he has always lived with someone his entire life and has never really been on his own.  He’s got her son living with him but that kid is hardly ever home.  I can relate to some of what he is going through and just getting out and talking can be a huge help.  Some how I manage to say things that make him laugh, not always but usually.  Were supposed to touch base tomorrow so we shall see.

I have put off several things around here over my holiday and I swore I would get them done today but wouldn’t you know it, I chose to take a nap instead of do actual work.  It was really good sleeping but I had a helluva time waking up.  Eventually I got back to normal and outside of my back killing me I feel okay at the moment.

2019 thus far is going okay.  It can always be better but then again it can always be worse.  I am happy just to coast and don’t need any major good things to happen but I am not swearing them off either.  I hope that you are doing well and that 2019 is going to be a great year for all of us.  However, I am more excited for 2020 just because of the way it sounds and I think there will be a lot of technology available then that isn’t available now.  Who knows what type of phone I will have then.

I have spent a good portion of the day with the kids.  Marv insisted on being up on the couch with me.  He held on to my arm and was licking it like it was a bone.  Eventually he passed out hard and I was able to get my arm back.  I discovered Gator has dry skin on her hind legs and it drives her nuts.  I’m glad some scratching from me helps but the more I do the more she wants and it is as if it’s not going to end.  Momma’s mole on her face seems to be getting larger.  I hope that all goes well this year from a feline perspective.  Last year t-totally sucked.  I keep thinking about poor Ruth and miss her so much.  I was chatting about her at the dentist today.

Well guess it’s time to stick a fork in this and call it done.  Talk with you all again soon.  Be well and lets hope for the best for the week ahead.
