Mopped the table

Happy New Year.  I hope that things are going well for you thus far into the New Year.  I got off work early on New Years Eve.  I went to get my haircut, found out that the waiter I asked out goes to the same place as I for his haircut.  He wasn’t there but in talking with the staff they told me.  I am starving hungry for Mexican food.  I went to the grocery store in the hopes to find Mexican Lasagna, it’s something they prepare.  There was none there.  I did get 2 orders of Spaghetti and had that for supper.  A friend of mine phoned and invited me to come out to a local casino with her and her husband.  They had a room at a motel and were staying the night.  I told her that I just got home and really didn’t want to be out tonight.  She encouraged me and tried but I didn’t budge.  So she had to run, which is understandable.  I would have had a little bit of a drive on my hands and she told me you can go home before midnight.  I said nah.  Probably better that I stay away from a casino.  I have a serious gambling problem in that once I start I don’t want to stop.  I keep telling myself I will win big just one more play.  Since I know that about myself I stay away from the casinos and then I don’t have the problem.

I sat back and turned on the police scanner, nothing interested happened.  I watched The Interview on pay per view and it was a decent movie.  I would have rather seen it in a theater to get the full experience but home did okay.  There were a lot of laughs to be had.  It takes a bit to get me to laughing.  I just had a chuckle here and there.

I took some selfies with me and LB.  I took photos of the other cats.  I was up past midnight but not too long and I was in bed.  It was just getting too late and my batteries needed to recharge.

I have not been out of the house since last year.  I also haven’t had a shower or shaved since last year.  While I wanted to venture out today, I talked myself out of it.  I watched more TV and took it easy.  Then I moved my late partners printer to the basement.  That was a task that killed my back.  I also had to move a small filing cabinet so the printer would have something to sit on.  I got it hooked up, paper loaded and fired it up.  It’s been off for at least a year.  Once it started to warm up, it smelled like something was burning.  I let it keep on going but covered the smoke detector, just in case.  Finally the moment I was waiting for it was all powered up and ready to go.  I printed a couple things to it and of course it started asking for ink right away.  What to do.  I went through his supply and found he had all but one color and of course that is the color that it needs.  Cyan to be exact.  Well I had to decide if it was worth it to keep it going and I did some price shopping.  I found a deal on Amazon and ordered ink, a waste tray, and a maintenance kit and paid $260, which is a huge bargain  The ink is off brand and not genuine Xerox.  I don’t understand how wax ink can be so expensive but in their marketing material Xerox says the supplies are cheaper than a laser printer.  Uh I don’t think so.  I would say they are right at or slightly surpass that of a color laser printer.  Genuine Xerox Ink 3 blocks of each color including black would set me back $450 minimum.  See what I mean.  It really does do a great job.  He has gone through 57 thousand sheets and that is nothing for that printer.  He used it hard and published a newsletter monthly from it for years.  So I will use it considerably less and the amount of money I just shelled out for supplies will last me at least 10 times longer than it would him.  I totally understand why he was always broke – between ink, paper and the maintenance kit that would easily eat up a paycheck.  I am not sure how much use it will see from me but it will be no where near the volume he put it through every month.

In moving the file cabinet I found a bunch of crap paperwork – bills and other items that he had saved.  Plus a very large supply of Pendaflex folders and regular colored file folders.  There are more there than I will ever use in my lifetime.  That was my guy – go big or go home.  I did find information about the house, homeowners association, various owners manuals and legal documents like birth certificates and his divorce papers.  Jeez he really did save everything.  I threw most of his credit card statements in the trash.  The accounts are closed because he entered into Bankruptcy so anyone who wants to try to commit fraud will certainly have picked the wrong persons account and the wrong identity to steal.  I don’t think there will be a problem but honestly really could care less at this point.  I am giving away some of the extra folders.  I mean there is no reason for them to sit here and collect dust.  He spent a small fortune on office supplies and someone might as well get use out of them.

Oh my back is killing me and I can imagine tomorrow won’t be fun.  My therapist called and moved my appointment to the afternoon, which will work out better.  Then I don’t have to make 2 trips – 1 to see her and 1 to dine with my friends.  I will simply go to my friends after therapy and that should put me there with a few minutes to spare.  I need to get out tomorrow in the morning.  I found a local office of the title company and figured I might try to stop by to see if they can help me  I am sure they are involved in the transaction some how, even if it is to walk paper work to the courthouse.  I really don’t want to enter in to a legal battle with them.  I just want them to do their damn job that I paid for.

In cleaning up I found a external hard drive  - plugged it in and it contains a backup of his pc back in like 2007.  I also found some porn pictures on CD.  I was really surprised when I popped it in and saw pictures of me on the disc.  Thank God that it fell into my hands.  We did make an amateur porn video on one of our trips – he really had to work to talk me into it.  I have found copies of that all over the house.  Not really happy about that.  I mean if that fell into the wrong hands it would be very embarrassing for me.  Which is why I was against it from the start.  Things like that fall into the wrong hands all the time and it causes nothing but embarrassment and pain.  I will say that it was a little bit of a turn on to make it but I would never do something like that again.  There is such a thing as Revenge Porn where a former lover/partner posts photos of their ex on-line to humiliate them and try to cause them pain.  That in many states is a crime.  Still you have to be caught and then you are prosecuted.  The law can’t prevent someone from acting on their emotions and posting photos.

I was thinking the table is wood.  The steam mop works on wooden surfaces  The table is made of wood.  So I grabbed a fresh pad and mopped the table.  Its super clean.  LB lays on it during the day.  He used to lay down at my side but now he lays at the opposite end.  I see him on the camera and have caught him a couple times in person.  He is quick to abandon the table.  I wish I had the camera when BLU was alive, he would have provided endless entertainment plus I could have caught him being mischievous.

I am going to watch a little more TV, surf the net.  I have to work on my finances.  I have paid bills already but I have monthly sheets where I account for every penny.  I prepare them on an annual basis and they also contain the gotcha expenses like insurance and other services that I have that come due on an annual basis.  Last year a lot of things caught me off guard.  This year it’s my mission to be more financial aware of what is coming due and plan accordingly for it.  I need more financial discipline so that I can continue to make a go of it.  It is easy to spin out of control and I want to avoid that if at all possible.  I know that my big expense this year will be a new roof for the house.  I figure between 5 and 7 thousand dollars.  I would like to pay cash instead of financing it but honestly right now I would have to finance it.  I don’t want to sign up to take on more than I can afford, which is also very easy to do.

Heck I am way behind here I haven’t even put up the new calendars.  Just something about wanting to be lazy appeals to me.  That to me is what a holiday is all about.  Being lazy and enjoying your time.  Be it napping, surfing the net or watching TV.  I did play with Bear today.  He seems a little better, but I am still concerned about him.  Cats are after all the masters of disguise.

Well off to do something before I just give up and collapse.  Talk with you peeps later.
