Kind of a sad day, it’s the last day I will ever be 40 years old. Just a couple more hours and 41 will be here. Surprised that I made it another year. A lot has happened in the past year. I am thankful for my family, my job and being able to keep my car. Things are so much better right now than they were last year at this time. I still don’t have much in the way of savings but hopefully with a little bit of time I can turn that around.
Everyone jokes about 40 and being over the hill. It’s just another day, like any other birthday. The worst thing about turning 40 was visiting the doctor earlier this year and having to do the rectal exam thing. That hurt, never mind the embarrassment! The best part about being this old is people tell me that I look like I am in my 20’s. That is the part I love because I see a 40 year old when I look in the mirror and don’t see how anyone can possibly think I am in my 20’s.
My partner and I were talking earlier today about my looks and comparing them to my brother. He said that my brother, when we first met was cute but now he looks like he has been rode hard and put away wet. I told him that is what smoking, drinking, doing drugs and living with a crazy person will do to you. Plus factor in that he is now working 12 hour days and has very little time to himself. Yeah, that will age a person really quickly.
So, we spent the day at home for the morning in bed together. I got up and got my haircut – birthday special $5 off. Nice! Then we drove up to get pie. Problem is neither one of us had anything to eat so we were starved. We both had a double portion of our meals, there was no room for pie. However, that didn’t stop us we got one to go and I got my Carmel rolls. My partner wanted me to get a pie but those rolls are good enough for me. I wish I could have had a dozen but I got two. I drove in the rain which was left from the hurricane. That’s all it’s going to do here for the foreseeable future is rain.
I remarked as we pulled into the driveway, looks like the lawn needs a haircut. Time to call up Lawn Boy to have him come back. There goes more money I don’t have.
With birthday’s a lot of people especially when your younger look for presents. I don’t expect anything but money sure would be nice. I have gotten two cards so far. One from my co-workers which was really cute. The other one from my mom and brother. I was expecting one more, maybe it will come on Tuesday wasn’t in the mail today. However, I honestly think that this person forgot me – oh well.
Tomorrow will be a work day instead of a celebration day. I believe we will be renting a green machine from Lowe’s so that I can clean the carpets. Thankfully we didn’t do it today, which gave my partner time to spill a grape soda on the carpet. Perfect, one more mess for me to clean up.
Perhaps on Monday I can sit back and relax. We still have a BBQ Grill that is brand new. We bought it 3 years ago and have yet to use it. Why? Cats! They love to hang out by the back door and if you open the door I’m afraid at least one of them would get out. So rather than face that, we just stare at the grill and think to ourselves someday maybe we will get to use it.
My shoulder and neck are still bothering me. Everyone is telling me use heat it’s so much better than ice. The doc says ice for stuff like this is the best. Usually I get a lot of benefit from it but not this time. I guess it’s my age. Perhaps I will try heat.
