Ah, Saturday

Hey friends, hope your all doing well.  We made it to the weekend!

I really thought I’d get up early this morning, force myself to have breakfast out and then go to my friends shop.  Sadly this agenda has been pending for weeks now.  Still no change it’s on the pending list. 

I had my usual weekend sleep interruption where I wake up and can’t go back to sleep.  This one was short and Mora helped to get me back to sleep but I did have to watch some TV.  Rudy tried getting me up early but that didn’t work and he let me sleep in until a little after 7a. 

Got up to feed the cats and then saw the cereal box sitting on the table.  Figured might as well polish it off.  It was Cinnamon Toast Crunch.  I love sugar despite the fact that it’s not good for me.  Had 3 small bowls to polish the box off and ate the last Banana. 

Felt pretty good thought that I would actually eventually get around to taking a shower within an hour but instead I wound up going back to bed.  It felt good to just kick back, it’s been a rough week.  I had to work harder this week than I have in a long time.  My days of rest I believe are behind me at least until the weekend arrives. 

It was lunch time for the cats (that’s 11a) here and I had to get out of bed because Rudy wanted lunch.  I got up to feed them, had a soda, looked at my phone, had a snack and then another snack.  Watched YouTube.  Then switched over to porn.  I was horny, morning is my best time for that.  I saw a hot scene and a cute blond twink, wow that’s all it took.  I was busy.  Wound up heading back to my room and this turned out to be one of those times where I really had to work for the climax.  Eventually it happened and it was incredible I let out one of my famous loud moans.  Rudy looked at me as if to say, are you okay?  I’m loud enough that we used to think someone would call the police thinking something was seriously wrong.  I haven’t been that loud in a long time.  Jeez that was one sloppy messy good time. 

After that work out and my heart rate returned to normal, I wound up getting sleepy.  Got in a quick nap.  Then just laid around for the rest of the afternoon watching TV.  I was planning on going to the other buffet but talked myself out of it.  Instead I went to the Mexican place up the street that I was at on Sunday.  I have been craving it all week long.  Got a shower before I left.  It was a short trip I might have been gone 45 minutes total.  Saw that Gas is approaching $5 a gallon, there was a serious spike in prices this week.  It’s getting out of control but since Summer is around the corner I don’t think there will be any relief insight anytime soon, but I hope I am wrong. 

Once I got back home, had to fill up the water softener with salt, it’s been low all week long.  Then I vacuumed my office and the rest of the basement.  Mora is a furry girl.  I picked up a lot.  Discovered with all of the recent heavy rain we had last week I have some wet carpet.  I know how the water is getting in, through a hole that the ground hog dug and the Raccoons are using it now.  I’ve got the space heater on that section of carpet to dry it out.  I need to get some rock and sand to close up the hole.  I know they are going to open it again.  My goal isn’t to bury anything alive but to keep water out of the basement.  I don’t mind the critters but I do mind the wet basement.  The real fix would be to get rid of the critters, seal up the opening with concrete and problem solved forever.  

On the work front, the new guy started.  My colleague had the first call with him and he told me that he was unprofessional and cussed a lot.  When my call came around he didn’t say any cuss words.  It was a business conversation that just seemed to keep going.  I think that the new guy thinks of my colleague as someone who is less of a threat.  Where as I’ve been around for years and I’m a more by the rules and close to management type person.  Clearly I don’t follow all the rules but I do follow most of them.  We will have more meetings next week and the training will continue for a few weeks so that’s why I said my days of rest are behind me, this guy is going to keep me busy.  Only good thing about that is it makes the day fly by.

Busy

Wow, it’s Friday already!  Happy Friday everyone. 

Work got busy and I wasn’t able to post for a couple days.  Things have calmed down a little bit but I don’t know for how long.  I’m on-call next week and our new guy started today.  I’ve got plenty of subject matter to cover with him but I’m taking direction from the boss as to what and when I cover anything.  Were starting off light but I suspect things will ramp up quickly.  He will want ROI and not to have the guy just sitting around doing nothing forever. 

Talked with a colleague this week that I trust and he just asked me if I worked from home full time.  I told him yes but he’s the only one that knows that.  I told him one day I just decided to stop going in.  It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me to travel 40+ miles one way to sit in a tiny office and do the same things I can do from home.  There is only one hardware task I am needed for in the office and if that comes up, I’m quick to dash over.  Otherwise I’m comfortable at home.  I told him that once I’m discovered that I will either be asked to go back or let go.  He was surprised by the let go statement.  Do you really think they will fire you?  I said if HR is involved then yeah I do, they have done some crazy things and I wouldn’t put it past them.  Despite my dedication, strong work ethic and loyalty as well as the inside knowledge I have.  Still knowing all that I take the gamble because I’ve made it this far. 

Wrote my retired colleague and he responded back to tell me that he was gay and had a boyfriend.  I suspected he was gay for years so it’s not a surprise.  I told him all about me and my situation with losing my spouse.  Haven’t heard back from him but he’s a busy guy.  I suspect I will get an reply in a couple days. 

The cats are doing well.  Rudy seems to have injured one of his back claws.  He won’t let me touch it.  I know he doesn’t like having his feet messed with but normally I can get away with looking.  I let him trim his back claws and he does a good job.  It sounds like he’s eating Cheetos, lots of crunching going on.  He’s not limping or acting any different.  He still has the zoomies and is playing normal.  He looks like he is developing a pigment change on one of his ears like his sister did.  I’m keeping a watch on that.  Speaking of his sister, Mora is doing fine.  Soaking up love, food, sleep and play time. 

Weather here is cooler so I had to turn the furnace on.  I’ve got it set low so the house is chilly when I first wake up but as the day goes on it gets comfy in here.  Just waiting to make the flip back to AC and hoping that next time is the last time, I do not like back and forth swings with temperatures.  It confuses everyone and everything.  However, I’m not ready to be put on broil in the hot summer heat quite yet.

Survived

Morning – I survived what was a serious weather day.  The weather radio and my cell phone never alerted to so many events in one single day.  I thought it would never end but thankfully just before bed time it all came to an end and we were left with nothing but a little rain that tapered off.  It rained so much yesterday!  We got rain and some wind but others weren’t so lucky with baseball sized hail being reported. 

The cats kept looking at the ceiling in every room they were in which was a little concerning to me.  I looked up as well but saw nothing of note.  Normally that’s how I get alerted to a bug. 

The grass guys showed up to mow as the Tornado sirens were sounding.  They had to earn their money and they mow 2 other lawns in my neighborhood.  They got everything done and packed up just before the first rain started to fall. 

All of my evening network TV programs got scrapped because it was nothing but live weather.  I know I can stream The Neighborhood which is all I really cared about. 

The upgrade project we worked on yesterday didn’t really involve much from me.  Just had to participate in a couple meet up calls and that was it.  I actually watched Ride Along while the project was going on.  Then followed up with Ride Along 2 when that was done.  I’ve seen both movies before but it was enjoyable to watch them again. 

Had a Ham Sandwich for lunch and Fettuccini for supper.  Toss in a little bit of candy through out the day as well as Yogurt and a couple Tangerines.  Not a bad food day at all. 

Slept okay for the most part but woke up a couple times, thankfully it was quick back to sleep.  Rudy and his biscuit dance.  I’d like to see him climb on me when I am sound asleep just to see what movements if any I make and how careful he actually is.  I go to sleep with him by my side and wake up with him on top of me. 

It’s way cooler here today but kind of comfy upstairs.  I’ve got the space heater on here in the basement to warm it up a bit.  We have more rain on tap for today and it’s a great day for a nap, which I am ready for. 

Work is starting to heat up a bit so back to it.  Hope you have a great day!

Weather Day

Today is weather day, storms are all over the place and there is a high risk for severe weather including but not limited to Tornados.  Lots of hail has already been reported.  It’s done nothing but rain at my place and I am perfectly content with that.  Hopefully, the worst case for me means that the grass won’t get cut today and I can live with that.  I’m not up for any damage or drama. 

Took time to write my retired colleague.  We didn’t interact a whole lot but just wanted to touch base with him to see how he’s doing.  He hasn’t written back yet and I honestly think it will be a few days if he does.  I’m sure his life is drastically different and hopefully for the better.  Not sure that I will have the luxury of retiring but who knows that is the fun thing about the future none of us know what is in store for us. 

Enjoyed my meal last night, it was better than I remembered.  Cost went up a few cents but that’s kind of expected.  The place was empty when I walked in, I wondered if they were open.  I sat down and then the crowd followed me there.  I wanted to ask if I get a discount for all of the business I brought them but didn’t think that my sense of humor would go over well so I just kept that little comment to myself.  It’s my magnetic personality that drew all of those people in.  If you believe that I’ve got some swamp land to sell you. 

I was so full that I thought I was going to bust open when I left.  Haven’t had that feeling in a long time.  Glad that I was close to home. Once I was back home got an anti-acid tablet because this food would for sure talk back. 

Watched YouTube videos and some All In The Family, before wrapping up early.  Unloading the dishwasher.  Then it was off to get naked and shave & shower.  The cats were sleeping when I started and when I finished.  I talked to them as if they were awake and got to retire to my room for about 30 minutes before they both joined me.  Rudy left when I finally climbed in bed, he had to go play.  Mora curled up with me and worked her magic and out I went.  Glad that I have them. 

Were migrating a service today from one machine to another and it’s a critical function.  I am nervous but there’s nothing for me to do just join a call sit back and relax.  Watch the show and see what happens, hoping for the best.

I wrapped up my morning tasks early so I took time to work on some items I had slated for tomorrow morning today.  It was good to free up the schedule and mark those items off the list.  That frees up my time tomorrow and hopefully will make for an easier day.

Sunday

Happy Sunday!

Hope that your having fun and enjoying the day.  I got started early with breakfast out.  Then my usual trip to the grocery store and gas station.  Then home to unload and relax.  Got in a nice but short nap.  Then got up and started cleaning the house.  Watched a little TV with the cats for a bit. 

The idea sparked that I should make my trip to the office early just to get it out of the way.  I did that and was disappointed.  There wasn’t anything on my desk.  Normally for Admin. Professionals week the company passes out something.  Last year I got a pack of gum and an energy bar.  Ah well.  Everything pretty much looks the same I ventured off into areas I haven’t visited in a year at least.  That was fun.  Unless something changes I’m done until next month. 

Each time I visit I think about how I used to make that trip each day without question for 5 days a week.  The crazy ass drivers who think it’s the Indy 500 passing me up and weaving in and out of traffic.  You really have to be on your toes, even on the weekend.  I don’t miss the travel or the office.  Happy to work from home with the cats.  I do get cabin fever but getting out on the weekends is usually enough to cure or calm that. 

Hit up the cat food store on the way back home.  The cashier asked me if my kids asked for anything crazy for Christmas.  Just because I commented about how long the receipt was.  I said no kids, just cats.  Nice to be mistaken for a straight person who had kids.  It was flattering to me. 

Finances are all updated, cat food put away.  I’ve cuddled with each of the cats.  Need to grab the laundry and head up to put it away.  Making one more trip out to a local Mexican place that I have a craving for.  It’s much closer to home than the usual place I visit.  Then I am done with running/travel.  That is until next weekend or so I hope. 

It’s going to be an interesting week ahead.  Monday thru Thursday is the last time it will just be me and the mistake maker.  Friday the new guy joins and that will cause me to work late on Thursday to make sure he gets account rights so he can preform.  No word on training schedules yet but I’m sure the boss will come up with something.  Not looking forward to that but I’ve done it twice before, what’s one more time.  Hopefully, this guy pays attention and doesn’t cause me hours of work like the mistake maker has.

Simple Saturday

 Howdy!

I had my usual insomnia that seems to occur every Friday night.  Which always seems to wreck my plans for Saturday.  I was up for about an hour.  Mora came and cuddled with me, that did the trick to get me back to sleep.  What a smart girl she is!

Woke up at 7:17a with Rudy making his biscuits, at least he let me sleep in a little bit.  I got up and fed him, then came back to bed.  Watched TV and knew that I would fall asleep again, which happened. 

I got up around 10a and had breakfast at home.  Then went back to my room to watch TV and when the sugar coma kicked in I was back asleep.  I didn’t get up and moving until 1:30p.  It was quite nice being lazy.  I turned my phone off and that gave me comfort that no one could reach me or bother me.  Just Rudy & Mora.

When I turned the phone on I had some email both personal and work.  Filed the work stuff to deal with on Monday.  Read the personal email and then got a shower.  Passed out lunch for the cats. 

Then I got on the road.  Opted to visit the original buffet that I now rarely visit because quality has gone down and prices have gone up.  I figured it’s been a while and knew that it would be a nice drive plus the vehicle needed some exercise.  It’s an hour and a half each way.  I got 30.2 miles per gallon, which is incredibly good for an SUV.  I used cruise control a lot, which always helps to get me better gas mileage. 

This visit the fountain soda tasted odd, some foods were hot and others were cold.  This place always used to be spot on making sure that everything was just the right temperature.  I only got 1 piece of fried chicken because it was the only leg they had and that’s my favorite piece to eat.  The rest were breasts.  Kind of glad because the chicken was cold.  I didn’t eat a whole lot but stocked up on desert which was bread pudding. 

When it came time to pay the bill my stomach told me that I needed to use the restroom.  It was filthy in all the wrong ways.  Feces smeared all over the inside of the stall.  I didn’t dare sit down, took care of things and washed my hands.  Got the bill paid and got back on the road home. 

Stopped to grab mail and the length of the drive was catching up to me.  I was tired so instead of going to the cat food store I opted to come home.  I’ve got tomorrow to grab cat food and visit the office to check on what’s on my desk.  I kind of wanted to knock all of the running out today but I think it’s much better to split it up and be safe.  No sense in taking a chance in falling asleep behind the wheel. 

I’ve put off doing the dishes so I need to head up and load the dishwasher, plus the cats need to be brushed and it’s claw trimming time.  Rudy tore up my arm and part of my chest so that’s how I know it’s time.  Neither of them will be a fan of the claw trimming and I don’t like doing it either but it’s necessary so I don’t look like I have chicken pox and I can preserve my skin.  I’m clearly allergic to whatever it is they have on their claws and it’s no fun trying to ignore scratching something that itches like crazy.

Knocked Up Again

Morning

Yesterday was a busy morning and I got to talking with my mistake making colleague.  This was a conversation he started with some shocking and unexpected news.  He has been absent a lot and had some “appointments” I figured he was job hunting.  Turns out his wife is pregnant again.  This was an accident that slipped by the pill.  He got a vasectomy recently.  That explains everything, he’s not job hunting at all.  He told me that he was done when he got to 2 kids but now there is a 3rd on the way and it’s the last one for sure.  He’s got 2 boys and the 3rd will be a girl.  That’s going to be different for him but he’s excited.  Due date is September 1st the day before my birthday.  Last baby came a few weeks early.  Thankfully he told me that he’s not planning on taking a bunch of leave at once, he’s going to try to limit it to one day per week to maximize it.  Of course that’s subject to change.  All I know is that for sure it means he will be out a lot more next year as the new Childs immune system develops.  I’d hate to be in his shoes from a money standpoint kids are expensive!  Happy for him but I wonder if it’s going to drain more of his brain cells and he will become dumber?  Only time will tell. 

We yacked on the phone for about 2 and a half hours.  I told him about the cats, which I had no plans on doing.  However, I got comfortable in the conversation.  He said that he’s happy I have them.  I told him it was a choice I had to make jump off a bridge or get a cat.  Our conversation went all over the place from personal to business and back to personal again.  I think were in a good space but I’m not forgetting about how he fucked me over when Gator passed, I still hold resentment for that and always will.  He said that he thinks of us a friends.  Yeah I said we are friends.  However, a friend doesn’t abandon you in your time of need.  He’s a co-worker that I am friendly with but he’s not a true friend.  The only think that keeps us talking is the job and if it goes away so will our conversation. 

Long and short of it is that yesterday was busier than normal because I got to talking and didn’t get a whole lot done for a couple hours.  Then had to scramble to get things done and decide what could wait a day. 

Chili was for supper last night, in case your wondering.  It was pretty good.  Had some Ice Cream for desert because the Chili was on the slightly spicy side. 

I had no idea how I managed to get through yesterday without a nap I was seriously sleep deprived by 3 hours.  However, I just managed to keep myself going even when I got to a lull I felt tired but had a soda or something to eat and just powered through.  I was quite proud of myself.  Slept like a rock last night until 5a and that’s when my body wanted to getup.  I got back to sleep for a little bit but was up by 6:30a and out of bed. 

It’s been a long week and I am ready for a couple days of rest or at least time away from work.  I still plan to visit the office just to see what if anything is on my desk.  I’d love to have breakfast out tomorrow at a fast food place but I know I will struggle with getting out of bed since I really don’t have to, other than to feed the cats and then I am free.  Freedom tends to bring out the lazy in me.

Man Candy Time

No Video – No Problem

Morning!

As much as I thought we would be asked to turn on our cameras for yesterdays meeting, video never came up and no one had their camera on.  It was a total non-issue.  There are more meetings on the agenda for today but only 1 that the new guy will join. 

Last night was a cluster.  I got a text from my boss at 7:30p asking me to help with something.  Next thing I know it’s 9p and time for bed.  Plus he totally ignored another urgent issue that came up and left it for me to deal with this morning.  Sometimes it feels like it all falls on my shoulders and my paycheck doesn’t reflect that.  This is just me venting, I know it can be a whole lot worse. 

Had a very nice dream and I wonder why not all dreams come true.  This one was perfect at least while it lasted.  My bladder woke me up and I used the rest room.  Then Mora cuddled up next to me and I had to hug her, I fell asleep.  She did her job and left me, never knew she was gone until I woke up to find her brother dancing on top of me.  He wanted me to get up at 5a.  No chance.  I rolled over and got another hour of sleep before my body wouldn’t permit me to go back to sleep any longer.  Still I laid there and closed my eyes so he thought I was sleeping and that kept him laying on top of me and still. 

I rolled out of bed at 6:45a and had plenty of time to eat breakfast.  I had to call and call Mora to come to breakfast.  She just stared at me as if to say I know.  Cats are stubborn at time and they do what they want when they are ready, not because you want them to.  Eventually she made her way to breakfast and started eating.  Normally her and I eat at the same time.  She might have been late to breakfast but she wasn’t late to attention time and her belly rub, which is a good thing. 

Had a Chicken Pot Pie for supper last night.  It started off really good but eventually the bottom crust wasn’t quite done enough for me and I threw some of it out but I did wind up consuming the bulk of it.  It was hot here yesterday afternoon and I flipped the AC on.  Not sure why but a Chicken Pot Pie just sounded really appealing.  I’ve got one left in the freezer.  I enjoy them much more in the Winter and when it’s cold outside.  Kind of like a nice bowl of Chili to warm you up. 

Here’s hoping it’s a great day for all of us.  I’m going to get the man candy post ready.  Then it’s off to surf the web for a bit before I head up for the day and work from upstairs for the rest of the day.  The cats seem to enjoy it.  As long as it’s light I can do it but if we get into heavy or super busy work I will need to retreat back to the basement. There are somethings that you just need 2 monitors for and time away from the cats to concentrate better.  Take care!

The New Guy

Morning,

Yesterday was mostly uneventful.  I was able to wrap things up quickly yesterday morning and head upstairs.  The cats were happy about that because it means they get to hang around me and bother me at will. 

I was headed to the bedroom for a nap when the boss sent one of his famous dumb emails asking me to check into something that had already been worked out.  Got that sorted and then it was rapid fire with other things hitting me. 

Finally I was able to go lay down and stretch out.  Man that felt so good.  Nothing like when you first climb into bed, at least for me.  Guess I’m just getting old. 

Watched TV and the cats joined me.  Had my electronic leash (phone) nearby in case I was summoned.  Eventually it went off and I had to get up but it was close enough to cat lunch time that it worked out well.  They got food and I got to deal with work. 

Had my lunch of 2 hot dogs with 2 bread & butter pickles on Sourdough with a little bit of Ketchup.  It was good.  Rudy looked at me as if to say Cheetos would pair nicely with that.  Yeah I know he just wanted Cheetos but it didn’t work out for him. 

Returned to the living room to watch TV and the computer for work stuff.  Thankfully I was only bothered a few more times.  When it came time to quit for the day I not only turned off the computer but the phone too.  Needed to just escape for a bit.  Fired the phone back up after 10 minutes.  There was work stuff there but I ignored it and it felt good. 

Today I’m sure will be a smoke show since the new guy will be joining one of our regular meetings.  Yeah I should be in the office so I could turn my camera on but I’m staying home.  I’ve already peeked and see that the mistake maker is working from home today as well, so it’s not like I am alone.  As long as they can hear my voice they don’t need to see my face.  We worked years on conference calls and there was no video, shame we can’t go back to those days but Zoom & the pandemic changed all of that.  Kind of wish I was the guy who was behind Zoom I wouldn’t need to work ever again.  At any rate I’m not looking forward to having the new guy join our meetings early.  I’ve done some prep work for his arrival.  There is more for me to do and I will get to it eventually but I think I’m done with trying to plan ahead. 

Yesterday was a nice Spring day but today were headed back to summer.  It was freezing this morning but by the end of the day I will probably be flipping the flipping AC back on for the rest of the week.  I will be glad when things finally even out and we get a normal temperature instead of all of these extreme swings but that day probably won’t happen until June 1 at the rate things are going.  My allergies are a flurry this morning but thankfully things seem to be settling down. 

Off to scour the internet for pleasure and eventually back to work.  I’ve got several hours to burn before this dumb meeting.  Joy!  Hope you have a great day!

Here we go again … Monday

Morning!

Had my Mexican food yesterday, it was really good.  Took a little longer than normal to get my order once I placed it.  They tried to give me Steak Burritos but I didn’t order that, it looked good though.  Got interrupted by work while I was eating.  Just an email and a quick response back and I was done.  I like those kind of interruptions if I must be bothered.  That was the only on-call thing that came up which is really good.  Made for a nice quiet weekend. 

We had a kitty show up last night on the front porch.  I saw it and got up to go greet it but it took off, never saw me.  It looked young and I hope it found its way back home and is safe.  With that a couple of other cats that frequent my home/the neighborhood have shown up as well.  I still have Raccoons, at least one that shows up not every day but often. 

Mowers are here now cutting the grass.  Now my lawn will blend with the neighbors.  Everyone cut there grass this weekend.  I looked like the odd man out.  All the rain we are getting sure makes everything grow like crazy. 

Had a nice night wrapping up laundry, watching YouTube Videos and Rudy curled up with me on the couch.  Mora was asleep in the basement.  Eventually she woke up and joined us.  Then I was able to close up the basement. 

Got my shave & shower in the clean bathroom.  I didn’t really want Rudy licking the tub but he insisted so I let him.  Crazy how he likes bathwater.  I tried to watch him close but he doesn’t like that and I got more than one dirty look from him.  As if I didn’t know what he was up to. 

The night went by way too fast but it was enjoyable.  I’m watching All In The Family on Amazon Prime.  I’ve seen some episodes from YouTube and when they come on I just skip them.  It’s interesting and I’ve got plenty of shows left to watch.  There is no intro skip button so I just fast forward through that.  I can hear the opening once or twice but after that it grates on my last nerve.  I like the closing theme which is just music, but there are actually different words to the closing theme it’s a separate song.  Carol O’Connor preformed it on YouTube which is the only reason why I know that.  Life sure was different back when that show was on the air. 

It’s Administrative Professionals Week at work.  We get some pomp and circumstance as staff.  Free breakfast tomorrow and a gift on Wednesday.  I am thinking of going in for it but probably won’t.  Instead I will make the trip on Saturday to find out what the surprise is.  It’s usually nothing that special.  We get a lot of thanks for doing our jobs which is lovely but I’d rather have more money than this little charade and celebration.  I can pay bills with money not with breakfast and a gift.  Next big thing to happen will be our reviews, which will take place next month.  Oh Joy!

Things are calm at the moment.  We had some things pile up but between me and the mistake maker we knocked them out.  I worked on some prep for the new guy.  Taking it slow not only because it’s boring but so I don’t miss anything.  The interns will be starting and he will be learning all at the same time, it’s going to be a cluster.  I kind of wish that he would have started a bit later next month but I’m sure we will manage somehow. 

Hoping for a mostly calm week with meetings that are short and to the point.  I know it’s an impossible ask but hey I can still hold out some hope, there is no harm in that.  I wish you all the best for the week ahead and hope that something wonderful happens for all of us  Take care!

Disgusting

Happy Sunday!

I hope that all is well in your world.  Yesterday afternoon I made it to Red Lobster.  Service sucked and not in a good way.  Took several minutes to be waited on when I walked in the door, almost walked out.  Got seated and then about the time I was ready to walk out a busser came over and took my drink order.  He said that my waitress was “very busy” and would be with me shortly.  She was at the bar ringing up something and told him to take care of me.  Meanwhile she was all over the place.  She could have taken a quick minute to stop by.  Eventually she came over and I told her what I wanted.  She said that biscuits would be right up as soon as they come out of the oven.  Don’t you know the biscuits and my food came out at the same time.  Biscuits were so small it looked like a child made them.  The taste was there.  I left her a very small tip since she gave me such small service.  The tip I wanted to leave was move your ass but I was nice.  I wished I had gone to the Red Lobster in my hometown it would have been a better experience.  However, there was construction going on and I purposely stayed away.  I’m headed back there today for Mexican food since construction is all done. 

Returned home to wrap up laundry and play on the computer.  Got caught up in a Tumblr poster who had a ton of guys in jocks.  You will be seeing them in future man candy posts.  They look so hot but I honestly don’t know how one wears a jock all day long.  I’ve done it and it was a turn on the first time but after that it just feels weird. 

Reluctantly I turned the furnace on, it was seriously chilly in here and I knew that it would drop even lower over night.  Got the bed made and laundry put away.  Had to play with Rudy.  He loves the clothes basket.  He sticks his paws in the openings trying to bat at me.  Then I stick my fingers out and he swipes at them or chomps on them.  It’s a fun time and we do it damn near every time the basket is full of clean clothes.  He’s still got a lot of kitten in him and so does his sister. 

Woke up way earlier than I wanted to but I got moving and got my usual morning greeting from Rudy.  Headed to pass out breakfast for them.  Then on to get dressed and grab my meds, headed out the door with the winter coat on.  It was 40 here this morning.  Grabbed breakfast, hit up the grocery store next and then stopped at Target.  Finally stopped to top off the tank, 6 gallons of gas $23.23.  That was close to a half of a tank.  I still had 230 miles left to drive but I’m particular about keeping a full tank.  You just never know where life will take you. 

I was overheating by the time I got home.  The sun was out and warming things up and all of the movement I was doing got my body heated.  I was never so happy to get home and get out of my clothes.  Got everything put away and then time for rest.  Then the sugar coma from breakfast wore off so I had my couple hour nap. 

Got the house cleaning done.  Worked on the bathroom.  I found this old can of cleaner, you spray it when it’s done it’s supposed to turn purple and then you rinse it away.  I sprayed the tub and sink and it turned pink.  We have always had “pink scum” but I never knew what it was.  Turns out it’s a bacteria called Serratia marcescens and poses a health risk if you have a compromised immune system.  It thrives on Soap & Water, sounds rather odd to me you’d think soap would kill bacteria and not cause it to grow.  It’s disgusting.  I saw a YouTube video on it a while back they said to use Hydrogen Peroxide to kill it.  Anyway I rinsed it all away and things look nice and clean.  I went over everything with another cleaner just to be on the safe side. 

Then it was time to head outside.  I had a branch of Poison something ivy, sumac who knows.  Anyway it was growing and flopping in the wind so it set off the garage camera when it was windy.  Last night I kept getting alerts and it woke the cats up.  They know the sounds each camera makes and it will bring them out of a serious sleep in seconds.  Funny thing is my new mail alert used to do that when they were new here, they weren’t used to a phone chiming.  Now they can sleep right on through new mail or a text tone.  Anything else wakes them.  I put on some gloves and chopped that branch and another one that was growing up against the garage.  Picked them up and threw them in the trash using tools only but I had rubber gloves on just in case for extra protection.  I know I shouldn’t put that in the trash can but it’s not like they inspect the can when they empty it, they just dump it and move on.  It looks better.  Had to change the battery in the garage camera as well. 

Now it’s wash time again.  Tub mat, then the bathmat and whites.  The water company will love me.  I will love the clean items and knowing that task is out of the way. 

Looking forward to a nice drive and some good Mexican food.  That’s about it, then it will be home and watching TV until it’s time for bed.  Not looking forward to the week ahead but at least I won’t officially be on call come Monday.  It’s the bosses turn so I’m sort of on call unofficially during the day.  That’s going to be the only plus to having a new person eventually they will take over his week and I will get two weeks of rest.  Things will be heating up at work with the summer interns and the new guy starting soon.  It’s going to be chaos for a while so I’m savoring all of the lulls I get. 

Well sounds like it’s time to go load the washer up again.  Both cats just passed out down here and I know as soon as I get up one or both of them will notice and pop up and start following me.  I wish they would stay asleep and not worry about me.  I will be fine no one is going to attack me and besides that I’m coming right back.

Temperature Drop

Howdy!

The temperature has dropped here and were in the 50’s.  Plenty of Watches & Warnings yesterday afternoon into the night but we just got some rain out of it.  I tried to stay awake until 11p which is when all of the Watches & Warnings expired but I didn’t make it.  My weekend insomnia kicked in at 2a and I knew that today wasn’t going to be as great of a day as I wanted it to be. 

Woke up with plenty of time to spare, had breakfast at home but of course the cats got fed first.  Showered and dressed, then waited a few minutes before I had to leave.  It was just enough time to get Mora in my lap and enjoy her company for a short bit. 

I came back home after my haircut I wanted to go back to bed and that’s exactly what I did.  Got back to sleep for a bit.  Rudy woke me for lunch and I really didn’t want to get up so I fed him and then went back to bed.  I watched TV and continued to dose off. 

I got up and then Rudy had his second lunch after I ate.  I just had a Diet Coke and Cheetos.  He loves cheese anything.  I let him lick my fingers and he tries gnawing on them like they are Cheetos but they don’t crunch like one.  I think I could feed him a Cheeto and he would eat it.  I was able to enjoy a Granola Bar after washing my hands from Rudy’s slobber.  Then lunch was done. 

Grabbed up my 2 weeks worth of laundry and here I am in the basement.  Space heater on, Mora passed out in one of the chairs behind me guarding me from whatever.  Rudy is upstairs snoozing and waiting for us.  The two of them had some play time for a bit before she came down to be with me. 

Planning on heading out to Red Lobster for supper.  I did find a new place to go to it’s a Mom & Pop kind of place but it’s 53 miles away (that’s one way) and it’s on my list of places to visit.  Found it from a group I am in on social media about restaurants in the area.  Like how I found out about the buffet place.  I meant to hit up the ATM to get some cash but that didn’t happen.  It’s been on my to do list for a couple weeks.  If I am going to a Mom & Pop place I make sure to have cash because some of them don’t take credit cards and it would really suck to travel all that way to find out I can’t eat there because I don’t have cash. 

Tomorrow’s I am planning on going back to my favorite Mexican place.  So a normal weekend for me. 

Really surprised that out of the 3 folks that came to my house none of them have called back with a price on this column or roof brace.  I called one guy and left a message on Thursday.  He’s the one I want to do the work out of all of them but I need a price.  I will probably call him back on Monday.  I had to call him twice just to get the quote.  I am not one to chase after people or beg someone to take my money.  I get that this will be a pain to change out but the work needs to be done, the sooner the better.  However, it’s not like this column is going to disintegrate overnight.  I’m just looking to avoid disaster before it gives way and becomes an emergency.  Damn near every house in the neighborhood has one of these things, one of my neighbors actually has two of them but they are smaller.  One neighbor had his made out of all brick, that’s smart no maintenance or replacement work to do there.  

Looking forward to a nice trip in a few hours and some fish.  Then finding something good to watch on TV as I pass the night away.  Hope your having a great Saturday.  Take care.
