Rowdy Rudy

Greetings!

It was a rainy and cold day yesterday.  No sunlight and the house was starting to cool off.  It felt nice to me.  I hooked up the new dehumidifier and put it to work in my bedroom.  For giggles I plugged the old one in the kitchen.  Turns out it sounds like it’s working.  I thought since there was no horrible fan noise when I turned it on that it stopped working.  I will have to give it another go when we get some summer like weather back and the humidity is higher. 

Not exactly sure what got into Rudy but he was racing through the house like a wild man.  Doing everything he could to anger me.  The more I yelled the worse he got.  Finally I guess he ran out of energy and he joined Mora and I in the bedroom.  This was around 10:30a to 11a.  I was watching TV.  Mora curled up in my lap and eventually we all drifted off to sleep.  It was the first time in a while that I had a nap and it was very nice. 

Woke up and passed out lunch.  Then it was back to work.  I just peeked to see what was going on and got drawn into a few things and passed a little bit of time. 

Kicked on the space heater as it was getting chilly in the living room.  The cats seemed to be extra happy when that turned on.  Went to check my room and that new dehumidifier did an awesome job.  It’s noisy which I don’t like but I’ll get used to it.  Turned it off and then back to work. 

Had Broccoli Cheese soup for lunch, which was a nice way to warm up.  Then 1/2 of a Beef Burrito from the store for supper.  A cinnamon caramel nut roll for desert, which was okay nothing special. 

Watched recorded Network TV for my evening entertainment.  Rudy came over and curled up in my arms just before it was time to call it a night and tried to drift off to sleep.  He can be so sweet at times and at other times he’s mischievous and make me want to hit him.   Eventually I got him to move and we got in some play time, then it was off to bed.  The house really cooled down over night and I was not the only one unhappy when I woke up.  I turned the furnace up a couple degrees and now it’s all comfy cozy. 

My back and shoulders are all jacked up from sitting on the couch and working.  I didn’t want to kick Rudy out of the office chair, he was sleeping and after the day we had I figured it would anger him.  I just let him be comfy while I suffered.  Now I wish I would have booted him.

Chatted with a colleague yesterday that I have a crush on, he called me and it sounded like he was going to ask me on a date.  He wanted to know about the open position on our team and if he should apply.  He’s qualified and I told him to give it a shot, the worst they can say is no.  I got in to my current role by climbing the ladder like he is wanting to do, so I understand why he reached out.  We talked for probably way longer than he wanted to but once you get me going it’s tough to shut me up sometimes.  Personally, I think he will get the position but I have absolutely no input.  Wish I was involved with the hiring process because after all whomever is chosen I have to work with them, even if that person turns out to be a jerk.  I don’t want any stress or drama and just want to get along.  I pray whom ever they hire has a brain and pays close attention to detail all the time and not just some of the time. 

As you might have guessed my day is pretty well done, I’ve got nothing on the schedule and man it feels good to have free time.  I will jump in and help with the work load if it warrants but otherwise I will just happily sit on the sideline and watch.  Based on my calendar tomorrow should be kind of the same thing.  I like it when the boss is away and we can just chill.  Next week the pressure will be back on since he will be on-call, which means were all on-call.

Humidity it’s a killer

Hey – Good morning!

The temperature in the house got up to 81 yesterday.  My bedroom saw a high of 82 with 54% humidity.  I was miserable and honestly gave serious thought to flipping on the AC but I held off.  A nice cool down would have felt really good.  However, we have way lower temperatures today and I figured this place would cool off.  Well it did just not nearly as much as I wanted.  It’s 79 upstairs but the humidity seems to have lessened.  I didn’t look at the thermometer in my room so I don’t know for sure.  The basement is 72 with 40% humidity and it’s nice and comfy cool down here. 

The heat was a reminder that I needed a new dehumidifier for my bedroom.  My old one just stopped working when I powered it off last year and now it won’t power back on.  I ordered a replacement on Amazon and they promised to have it delivered same day between 5p and 10p.  When do you think it arrived?  If you said this morning at 6a then your right.  I hate it when they fall short on delivery times, but there’s no compensation.  I mean I could call to complain and that might get me a few dollars and an apology but honestly it’s not worth my time.  I mean I got my order. 

I bit my tongue and called the old tree guy.  Turns out he got a new job and is frequently out of town on less than a moments notice.  I’m sure his wife loves that.  Anyway, he told me he hadn’t forgotten about me.  He sucks when it comes to keeping in touch and communication in general.  That’s always been the case.  However, he told me that he would try to make it here this weekend but for sure would be in touch soon.  We shall see.  While I won’t wait forever, I will give him a bit more time.  Hopefully, he’s not just telling me what I want to hear.  I suppose I will find out soon enough.  It would be nice to see him this weekend though to get this job done. 

Work yesterday afternoon kicked into super high gear for me after having pretty much the morning off.  I got busy and broke out the cordless keyboard as I peered into my laptop and concentrated on what I was doing.  All the while having cats pester me.  It was annoying and I made a small mistake in the process but thankfully it was easily fixable.  Shh, don’t tell anyone, it will be our secret.  I think I impressed and over delivered for a particular manager, which will get me brownies points.  I added that task to my list that I include with my review, which will be coming up soon.  Knocked out another project for upper management.  I couldn’t believe an hour had gone by since I last looked at the clock but the next hour passed even faster despite having nothing to do.  I was happy when it was time to pack it in for the day and I did turn off the PC early.  There aren’t many days that I do that.  Work gets more than their fair share out of me  and I give it since I am working from home. 

On the TV front I saw a YouTube video the other day where a Sherriff’s deputy in Florida almost got shot.  He took a female into custody and searched her multiple times.  She managed to get out of the cuffs not once but twice.  She concealed a gun in her waist ban that he never felt during the multiple searches.  They were traveling to the jail and that’s when she took her shot.  She grazed him in the head.  He was one lucky guy.  I never saw someone stop a car and get out so quickly.  He returned fire but she too only got grazed.  He had plenty of backup and they got her out, got the gun and then off to jail she went.  What a stupid idea to try to kill a cop especially when your in the back of his squad car.  Now if she was successful and did manage to kill him, the would have wrecked and she would have been trapped since there is no way out from the inside when your in the back of a cop car.  Again, dumb idea.  Hence why they say criminals are dumb, dare I say down right stupid. 

I enjoy watching videos about scammers and how they are evolving.  It helps me with my job.  However, I hate to see innocent people victimized.  I heard a story about what I call a man in the middle attack.  So imagine that your close to retirement, you find a new place to live and plan to purchase what is considered to be your dream home.  You do everything right with hiring an attorney to cover the legal end as well as facilitate the purchase.  Email after email is exchanged not only with you but with the other side whom your buying the home from (presumably a bank or title company).  Then out of the blue you get an email telling you to send the funds and wire instructions are provided for you to send the money.  You comply and think that it’s a done deal.  Only to show up to closing and find out that you were taken.  The lawyer you hired claims their network was safe.  The bank or title company says the same thing.  What happened was that one of their networks was penetrated and an attacker was waiting and watching.  Then when the time is right they struck.  You saw a typo or some language in the email asking you to send the money that wasn’t phrased properly but you thought nothing of it, but that was a silent clue.  Now your money is all gone and no one can help you.  If you find your self needing to wire money, ALWAYS call the last good number you have on file (don’t use the email or letter that was sent to you) and call to confirm the wiring instructions, especially if there is a last minute change.  This scenario plays out all the time and the attackers don’t just prey on individuals they go after companies as well.  It’s happened where I work at and it’s been caught and stopped before any damage has been done.  It really sucks when it’s a person or a couple thinking they are getting their dream home only to find out their life savings has vanished. 

Another video I saw involved Sextortion.  A 15 year old got a text from a random girl who claimed to go to school with him.  She knew intimate details about him, his family and social life.  She convinced him to send nudes and she sent some to him as well.  Then it turned into a ransom demand.  When he couldn’t pay the scammer started barraging the poor kid with text messages and wages psychological warfare with him inundating him with a flurry of messages in a super short amount of time.  The attacker was convincing the kid to commit suicide and ultimately he did because he didn’t see a way out.  I had no idea that attackers/scammers were so bold to try to convince someone to take their own life.  A mobile phone is a great invention but it can also be weaponized just like anything else.  That’s why parents have to educate their kids.  I think schools need to provide the education to kids as well about this type of event.  Taking nude photos is a turn on to many people regardless of age.  Young people who are naïve to the danger are easy victims.  A kid shouldn’t take his own life, much less be coached into it by a stranger.  This happened in West Virginia I believe and the kids parents are working with law makers to get a bill passed so that it’s a requirement that this danger is taught to kids in school.  I think doing that is a great first step but parents still have to talk with their kids.

Disappointed

Well the landscaper was 15 minutes late.  He didn’t bother to ring the doorbell and I went outside when I saw him on camera but he was quick.  We never met and he’s going to prepare a quote based on what he thinks I want, which I am going to reject.  Looks like I am back to calling the original guy that I really didn’t want to come back. 

To add to my disappointment that gaming chair that I brought upstairs yesterday turned out to be Rudy’s favorite new place.  He slept there every chance I gave him.  However, while I was sleeping he decided to use it as a scratching post and tear up the chair.  He never did that when it was downstairs and I could supervise him.  Kind of glad I didn’t bring up a nicer chair but still I am quite disappointed in him.  I should have known better because it’s pleather or simulated leather and cats just can’t get enough when it comes to leather. 

I had a talk with him and told him that I’d like to hurt him for what he did.  It was a perfectly good chair.  I’m sitting in it as I type this so I can still use it but cosmetically it looks like a piece of garbage now. 

Well back to work. 

Insanity

Morning

Yesterday was an okay day for a Monday.  Kind of calm but it had it’s busy points. 

I heard back from the landscaper that I met with on Friday.  He is insane if he thinks I am going to hire him.  His prices are outrageous.  Trimming and shaping 4 small bushes and removing some sticks he wants $950.  If he cleans the landscaping beds he wants $1,500.  I get that he has to make a living but he’s not making that kind of impact to my finances.  I don’t know how he possibly stays in business. 

I’ve got a meeting with another landscaper in a bit and then have to play the waiting game for their bid to trickle in.  If it’s anything like the first guy, I will go back to the original guy who I swore off because he’s way cheaper and we don’t mess with emailing bids, he tells me the price and get through any negotiations, then the work is done and presto I pay him and life moves on.  I actually did call him last year but I think he forgot me since I didn’t have him come give me a quote first.

Took an office chair upstairs yesterday.  Rudy loves it and wants to sit in it when I am not.  It looks seriously out of place in the living room and there really isn’t room for it.  I really need a small desk to put my laptop on and then put the chair in front of that instead of working off the couch.  It beats being trapped in the basement.  I am making it work.  My hip feels a little better but in my mind I need a swift leg pull to cure the problem. 

However on a super hot day it’s warmer upstairs but nice and cool down stairs this time of year.  Yesterday we opened the windows and after a few hours Rudy went a little nuts trying to climb the back door screen, it pushes out with a little effort and rather than him discover that I just closed the door.  It felt nice but by afternoon it was 77 in here.  It never got to 80 yesterday but that is the forecast for today and I know it’s going to be humid in here.  Not looking forward to that. 

I took my Winter comforter off the bed and turned the heat down.  I got cold in the middle of the night and it’s kind of chilly not but I am just enjoying it because I know it’s not going to last forever. 

Onward to see what this day brings.  Hopefully, not much but some good food, laughs and maybe an orgasm if I am lucky.  Hope your day is a good one as well plus or minus the orgasm.  Take care and stay safe. 

Relaxing Sunday

Morning

Hope you had a great Sunday & weekend!  My Sunday was a lazy Sunday.  It started off cold out and warmed up into the 60’s.  I got out for breakfast, grocery store and fuel for the vehicle.  Watched TV when I got back home, napped and then passed out lunch for the cats.  Laid down and watched TV in the living room.  Eventually I got up and cleaned the house, it was a light cleaning week.  Continued to lollygag and waste time. 

Afternoon rolled around and I opted to get ready and left around 3p.  Headed to the Mexican place.  Took a city route instead of the freeway.  Got 25mpg on a city route.  Never done that before that I know of.  I was quite impressed.  Took the freeway home and got up to 28mpg.  Stopped in for a car wash before returning home.  Dried the vehicle off and then came in to see the cats. 

Passed out supper for them, got out of my clothes.  Stayed in my underwear because it was just too hot for clothes.  Watched TV, surfed social media via my phone.  Didn’t power on or touch a computer all day long.  That was on purpose.  I figure I spend enough time on them all week long, a day away can’t hurt anything. 

Watched a YouTube video of a tour of a Chicago high rise apartment.  Rent was $1,500 per month and the garage parking was $345 per month on top of that.  Man it’s not cheap to live downtown in Chicago.  They had some nice views but I wouldn’t like all of the city noise.  The energy though would be nice and to wake up looking at Lake Michigan each morning that has to be really nice.  Still it’s a lot of money for an apartment.  At least they had a washer and dryer in their unit as well as all new appliances.  I saw something similar for New York and the rent was in the title it was way more.  I didn’t watch that video.

Speaking of living quarters.  I’m still waiting on my quote from the landscaper.  This is going to be a hot week and it will certainly test my patience with wanting to turn on the air.  I’ve got a couple bushes that are restricting air flow to the condenser outside and I’d like to get them trimmed and shaped up long before I flip the switch.  Were headed back to 80 today and then storms in the forecast for tomorrow with a cool down but only for a day and then it’s back into the fryer for a day and then we go back to more normal like temperatures. 

I woke up at 5a from an internal body alarm that the temperature was too hot.  I peeled the covers back and man that felt good.  I got up to use the restroom and never made it back to sleep despite trying.  Then the living room light kicked on at 6:20a and there was no going back to sleep. 

Time change wreaks havoc on my body for a few days but I adjust.  The cats are confused a little bit but again in a couple days everything syncs up.  They knew it was bed time last night.  Rudy came in crying while I was brushing my teeth that he wanted to play.  When I got out his toy he swatted at it a couple times and was done.  I tried to regain his interest but he wanted nothing to do with it.  Mora had her turn and she couldn’t be bothered with it.  Play time was done and I headed to watch TV until my sleeping meds kicked in. 

I’ve got what looks to be an easy week ahead since the boss is out.  I’ve got 1 meeting tomorrow but it’s a large group thing that is done every week.  Outside of that I am free and clear of meetings.  Hopefully the BS stays to a minimum level.  I’ve worked to help my colleague this morning a little bit.  If I get super bored then I will lend some additional help but otherwise I plan to enjoy the day and just keep an eye on work email. 

Told that cats that I’d be opening the windows so they have that to look forward to.  I got some Cherry Diet Coke yesterday and am looking forward to trying it.  I’m told it’s pretty good, I will find out in a few hours when I open my first can. 

I’ve been suffering with some hip pain in the early morning.  I’m thinking of bringing an office chair upstairs and sitting in that instead of on my old worn out couch.  It will probably be a bit more comfy and certain be better for my posture.  The goal being to help the pain go away.  Perhaps it’s just from too much sitting and I need to get up and move around a bit. 

Saw a couple pushing their cats in a stroller on social media a little bit ago.  I wonder if Rudy & Mora would be hip to that?  I’d hate to invest in the stroller only to find they don’t like it.  I’d never put them both in the same spot together, the would probably fight.  I think it would be neat to be pushing a stroller around the neighborhood, people would think I have a baby when it’s just two cats.  Managed to get Mora on the scale on Saturday.  Last time I weighed her was 2024 and her weight is exactly the same – 19 pounds.  Yeah imagine 19 pounds stomping on your nuts, doesn’t feel good.

Well off to see what kind of trouble I can get into or time I can waste.  Hopefully it’s a decent day.  Take care.

Change of plans

Yesterday it got up to 81 in the house and 79 outside.  It was a truly nice sunshine filled day.  I opened the windows but that’d didn’t really do anything to help cool things off inside.  It did make for 2 happy cats.  They love looking out the window as well as bird watching.  I felt a few nice breezes but that’s about it, until the evening.  That’s when my allergies went haywire.  My eyes started itching, my nose itched and I started sneezing like it was the newest tune on the radio.  I just took some medicine and waited for the attack to pass, which it did.  I kept the windows open. 

Work was kind of dead yesterday but I did have my moments where I had to spring into action.  Today started out that way, I know it’s Saturday.  I got my haircut and was planning for my next stop when something came in and derailed my day.  I came home and dealt with it.  Then just relaxed and watched TV. 

Today is very much back to Winter, it feels like 43 outside.  We got rain overnight and storms were predicted severe in the early morning hours but nothing woke me up, which I am thankful for. 

Still waiting on my quote from the landscaper I met with yesterday.  I don’t get why they asked for my email instead of just telling me a price on the spot or telling me they weren’t interested in the job.  I hate waiting and then having to follow up.  I plan to call on Monday to find out where things are.  I can continue to bid this out but would just as soon get it done sooner rather than later. 

Anyway, I didn’t go to the office today.  Instead I went to the country and ordered Fried Chicken.  This was a place I have been to before with a friend, we usually stop in for lunch.  Just my luck today their credit card reader wasn’t working.  I normally don’t carry cash but I had enough to cover the bill.  They offered me an ATM but I told them I don’t carry ATM cards.  First time that has happened to me.  Now I need to reload my cash.  The money I had was left over from last year back in the Fall when I took time off to go eat and drive around. 

Working on laundry now, hoping that the rest of the weekend stays quiet and I get no more email from work.  Next week should be simple since the boss is out and I also won’t be on-call.  I like that a lot.  However, if my colleague gets sick then I have to run things. 

I’ve already moved a few clocks forward an hour, not looking forward to losing an hour of sleep.  Tomorrow will fly by and I know Rudy will be all confused.  It will take him as well as me a few days to adjust to the new normal.  I really wish this silly time change business would be done and over, it seems pointless to me.  It causes more chaos than anything.

Deep Sleep

Morning!

Feeling pretty good this morning.  Despite being up a couple times during the night, I got the best sleep I have had in a very long time.  Wish that would occur more on a nightly basis instead of once and a while.  I’ve got a slight back ache but otherwise I am fine. 

The sun is out and were supposed to be in the 80’s today.  Quite unseasonably warm.  I am sure there will be storms and possibly a Tornado or two spin up.  Not a fan of weather like this, especially this early in the year.  Tomorrow is will be a drastic difference where were back in the 50’s and 60’s.  Kind of like 1 day of summer. 

I have my meeting with the landscaper in a little bit.  The yard is still pretty soggy and I’m not a fan of walking around in it but I need to show him what I want done.  Hopefully I don’t get too muddy and he can give me a decent price so I can get this done.

Andrew (goes places) streamed last night but something went wrong like 30 minutes into his stream and he disappeared.  He came back but there was no notification I just found him randomly on YouTube.  Sounds like he had some technical problems and most of them were him being his own worst enemy.  I know he will get it flushed out.  Streaming I think is part of a skill where if you don’t use it frequently, you will loose it.  However, that doesn’t mean he can’t gain it back!

I got fed up with flipping around for something to watch and called it a night a bit early.  Showered and then went to bed.  Waiting to fall asleep and before I knew it I was out.  Perhaps that the recipe to get my body to sleep well.  I also know that I was exhausted it was a busy day.  I also had a nap yesterday and normally that doesn’t fair well for a good nights sleep. 

Got my morning tasks taken care of and some personal browsing done.  I will be headed up early because of the landscaper coming.  I plan to work the rest of the day from upstairs.  One meeting to attend and then hopefully I am home free. Hoping for a calm day that passes quickly. 

Going for a haircut tomorrow morning and I booked it early.  I will hate myself for doing that but it’s one way to get up and get the day started.  Thinking of maybe going out for breakfast but that will depend on how rested I am and how I feel.  I’ve got a trip to the office planned and probably a stop at the Mexican place close to the office.  I love their salsa despite the fact it doesn’t agree with my stomach.  I just can’t get enough of it.  As long as I take an anti-acid pill either before or after I eat it, I am fine.  Otherwise it’s hell on earth. 

Not exactly an exciting weekend based on plans but who knows where the wind will take me and who I will come across.  As long as it’s a no drama or problem weekend, I am fine.

Almost over

Morning

The week is almost over.  The same is true for our rain, it is moving out and turns out tomorrow is going to be hot, in the 80’s, windy and a high risk for severe weather.  For me it’s got Tornado written all over it.  I am hopeful that it will be pleasant in the morning so that I can meet with the landscaper to get his quote on the work I’d like to have done.  I’d like to get that all behind me, don’t like little things like that lingering it really bothers me. 

Speaking of bothers I woke up my mistake making colleague a short time ago.  I had no idea that he was ill and out of the office today.  That’s what happens when you only communicate with the boss.  When I am out I send a message to the entire team so every one knows and there is no doubt.  I’m guessing he may be out on Friday as well, I mean I wouldn’t come back for one day but that’s just me.  He always finds a way to pay me back if I get sick.  It’s like were on a sea saw and one time it’s him and the next time it’s me.  As long as he’s back on Monday I will be fine.  I can certainly handle a couple days without him.  He’s got some stomach bug which doesn’t sound like fun at all.  He sounded sleepy and dehydrated. 

Yesterday had it’s chill moments and breaks.  About the time I would start to appreciate them more work would come rolling in.  I had a few emails last night but nothing that required me to log back in.  It all waited for me this morning. 

Finished off the pizza yesterday for lunch.  It was good but I kind of wish I would have heated it up but cold pizza is also good.  Supper was a Cup of Chili which was pretty good.  Finished off 1/2 a piece of Chocolate Cake. 

Had to contend with the cats competing for attention.  Rudy curled up in one of my arms and sacked out.  He was waiting for me to get up so he could nap in my spot on the couch.  Which is exactly what he did when I got up and went for cake.  Then Mora had to be in my arms when I moved to a new spot.  I knew I would attract her but she was also sleeping at the time and she woke up when I sat down.  Then she sprang to life and came running over and jumped up.  She’s got a couple sharp nails.  She hates me looking because she knows that I am going to cut them eventually and that time will be soon.  I hate getting stuck or poked by a cat claw.  I understand the purpose of claws I just wish they wouldn’t interact with my body so often.  Not only is it painful but I am allergic to whatever bacteria they have on their claws and I get a bump and then it itches like crazy for days. 

Found a French Restaurant streaming on YouTube they were grilling steak, chicken and some sausage.  I watched it for a few minutes.  Then moved on to an Italian place that tossed pizza’s.  Mora really liked watching that.  It got old to me so I found other random videos to watch as I mindlessly tuned out the noise and focused on my phone and social media.  Had the police scanner going as well to be in the know about what was going on in the area. 

Slept pretty good until around 2a when Rudy decided it was play time.  Honestly I don’t know what’s gotten into him.  I wish it would leave because I do not like middle of the night wake up calls, unless it’s absolutely necessary.  I’ve been known to loose my cherub like demeanor and say & do things that I will later regret.  Moral of that story is let me sleep unless it’s a true emergency, otherwise you might be sorry that you woke me.  I’ve been that way my whole life and my brother is the same way.  I guess it runs in the family.

Man Candy

Ruined Evening

Morning!

Yesterday was busy and had it’s challenging moments but all in all I’d say it was an easy day.  That is until later in the evening when I got an alarm from work at 7p.  That sucked up the rest of my evening and had me making phone calls and typing away in various systems.  Someone clicked something they shouldn’t have and didn’t realize that it was working in the background doing malicious stuff.  That’s part of my job to deal with stuff like this but regardless when it happens on or off the clock, it makes time disappear.  There is so much to the process and so many tasks to complete it’s mentally & physically exhausting.  This was not how I wanted to spend my evening but to be fair I had been searching for something to watch when I just got into a show and then had to abandon it. 

The good news is that Rudy & Mora both slept through the event like nothing happened and when I got ready for bed they both came alive and were ready for play time. 

I didn’t last terribly long waiting for my medicine to kick in, my body was ready to give up for the day.  I was in bed by 9:30p and asleep by 10p.  Silly Rudy woke me up at 4a I guess he had a burst of energy and wanted to play.  I yelled at him and rolled back over.  He came back at 6a and I wasn’t any happier with him.  I’m not a morning person but if I get enough sleep it can be possible that I can seem like I am a morning person.  I like late nights much better but that of course is doing something I want to do and not work.

Played with the cats as I usually do after I am dressed and ready to head downstairs.  Mora’s claws are getting sharpened up and she nicked me a couple times.  I am ready to trim them again, that shit hurts.  She was cute playing with me.  She would bite me and I’d say OW and she knew to ease up.  She loves to nibble on my fingers just like her brother does.  However, she loves to play rough and I’m not that durable or in the mood for that kind of thing.  If she is chomping on a toy then I am perfectly fine to entertain her but when it’s me or my body she is chomping on, no thanks not a fan. 

Found out yesterday that the boss is taking next week off.  Hallelujah! So I just have to put up with his crap and dumb meetings this week.  Get me to the weekend and I’m home free for a week.  Also found out that the new person we are recruiting for will start off as a junior level person.  They will be a hybrid of me and the mistake maker, so each of us will have a part in training them.  I am not pleased about that at all but we shall see what comes to pass.  Hopefully, we get someone with more than a 1/2 a brain and some dedication to do a good job.  I think it’s going to be mid to late Summer before this person starts but I could be wrong.  There is a lot of internal interest in the position so it’s possible that we could have a person in that role sooner.  I hope it’s a no drama person regardless if it’s a guy or girl.  This could also mean that I have to go back to the office because we will want to have cameras on for some of our meetings to help acclimate the person to our team, I just know how it’s been in the past and how my boss thinks.  For now I am just fighting the good fight and keep putting one foot in front of the other. 

Now I am ready for a nap, who’s with me?  I do feel a little bit better but am still struggling in the morning a bit.  First thing I am going to do when I know I am done with this is change my toothbrush.  I can hardly wait.  I think that might be how I got re-infected but that’s only my hypotheses.

Stream on Andrew

Morning!

So glad that Monday is behind us.  Yesterday was bonkers.  It would be busy, quiet and then busier.  My blood pressure would go from calm to racing over and over again.  I had difficulty in breaking away from the basement to head up for a bathroom break.  When I had the opportunity I took it and just relocated for the day.  It was past Rudy’s lunch time and he met me at the door crying his head off.  Instead of using the restroom first, I fed him just because that’s what I do.  Then I used the restroom and was able to squeeze in a quick lunch. 

I had left over cold pizza.  It was so good I didn’t want to stop eating.  Eventually work called and I had to get signed into my laptop and resume to see what fresh hell had arrived. 

Had a nice conversation with my mistake making colleague.  He made some royal fuck ups last week and honestly if I was doing the work of 3 people and trying to keep pace I’d probably would have done the same.  We talked about those and got them fixed.  Funny thing he told me not to go back to the office and to work from home until I felt better.  I chuckled inside as he has no idea. 

Got an alert on my phone from Twitch.  It was Andrew (goes places) it said “Get your cute butt in here”.  I fired up YouTube on the TV and there he was streaming.  Someone talked him into taking his shirt off.  Two and I think a half hours of talking, gaming and chatting.  It was a nice time and I didn’t want it to end but he took me into early evening. 

While I was streaming him I noticed that one of my Wireless Access Points kept going off line.  I rebooted my router and my modem a couple times and couldn’t get it to clear.  However, I had internet access my laptop was working and well Andrew was streaming on the TV.  Turns out the Access Point bit the dust.  I tried reprogramming it twice but it was a no go.  Not sure what changed but suddenly I am able to run the house off of just one AP (access point) and my main router.  The AP that went bad was for the deck camera but now it’s got decent signal and the AP is a long way away.  I was all set to order a replacement but hey if I can get by with just the one then so be it.  I miss the additional AP as it was easy to see at a glance if there was an internet outage or when connectivity was restored, both of which occur long before any alerts are sent by my provider. 

Broccoli Cheese Soup was supper last night with some pepper and lots of crackers.  Washed it down with a Cherry Float Coke Zero.  That flavor is kind of lost on me, it was a nice change but I am ready to drink my last can of it already. 

Had some super strange dreams last night.  I shut down a server and my boss was with me at a party.  We had to go in but the freeway was under some major construction.  Had to detour on some mountain like roads.  Eventually we stopped inside a building and got help from a lady who rode with us.  Next thing you know we were under attack and trying to get away from some crazy people that were trying to kill us.  Perhaps that’s what I get for watching a Video Game Stream but I’ve never had a dream like that before.  I was glad that I woke up and it was all a bad dream. 

Thunder and intense Rain woke me at 2a and I had to stay up for a couple hours before I could go back to bed.  Thought I’d be super sleep but I ate an energy pill aka Belvita Soft Baked bread biscuit with my Oatmeal and now I have normal energy.  It will wear off by noon and that’s when the crash will probably happen and I will likely want a nap. 

Made some great progress this morning at work and now I’m just waiting for the next crisis to unfold or the next meeting to occur.  I think a crisis will unfold long before a meeting but hey you never know. 

It’s a dreary, soggy rainy wet day here.  We need sunshine bad.  I know that cats will miss it today and so will I.  Although I’m not ready to jump into the depths of a scorching summer, a nice Spring with no pollen with be fine with me.  Hope the sun is shining bright where you are.

Pizza & Man Candy

Morning!

I made it to the pizza place and wow there were some cute guys working there.  It was a nice show and the pizza was good.  Last time I was there I got a Diet Coke with Lime, now they only have Lemons.  Yuck, no lemon for me.  They have an open kitchen protected by large panes of glass.  It’s fun to see them toss the dough in the air.  Kids love to stand in front of the windows and are memorized by the process.  Kind of like I am when I see a super hot guy. 

It was still cold outside and I am due to have the vehicle washed but really didn’t want to deal with drying it off, so I skipped it.  Besides that it’s going to rain all this week and into the weekend so it’s kind of counter productive.  Sure it would be nice and clean while sitting in my garage but the moment I took it out it would be dirty again.  The weather will settle eventually and I can go have it washed then, for now it’s not looking terribly bad but is noticeably dirty.  Found out that CarMax will give me $11,500 if I wanted to sell it, that’s probably a better offer than I’d get at a dealer.  I like to know it’s value but not interested in selling just yet. 

My memory is starting to fail me, sort of.  Yesterday when I was at the checkout I asked the clerk about my milk and she said, you didn’t buy any.  I had to run back to grab some.  That’s totally unlike me.  Milk is an every week thing.  There have been a couple other issues that all just started yesterday.  I’m wondering if I don’t have COVID.  My memory was shot then but I also felt much worse. 

Speaking of health, I feel a bit better this morning but still know that I am under the weather a bit.  The night sweats are a little better but not gone yet.  I’ll be glad when they leave, it’s not only the ick factor but the laundry and water use.  My water bill has seemed to spike even before this and I saw on social media that I’m not the only person who has noticed it.  I think rates quietly went up but none of us were notified.  I see that Trash prices are increasing but it’s like from $12 to $17 per month, I think that is still a huge value and quite cheap but I know that I’m probably in the minority on that opinion.  It’s just basic trash and recycling pickup each week, no yard waste (that’s extra and you have to subscribe year round).  If you have a large item or two they will do those pickups but you have to call to schedule it. 

I waited last night for Andrew Goes Places but as I suspected he never went live.  I played on my phone to catch up on social media after being away for a whole day.  Then watched some YouTube videos and returned to re-watching again Schitts Creek.  Also watched SNL just for Weekend Update, always enjoy that segment and it’s the only reason why I record the show.  Saw that all of the Chicago shows (Fire, Med and Police) are back this week, it’s a cross over event and Jesse Lee Sofer is returning to CPD for this episode.  I’m sure his shirt won’t be off but damn it will be nice to see him again.  In case it’s not obvious I have a mad crush on him. 

Glad that I worked to get caught up this weekend, it has made all the difference today.  There have been a few things come up but I am really on top of my game.  Somehow I managed to submit my time for last week before the time & attendance system went down.  Got my doctors note off to my boss and now it’s all about moving forward, even though my body is still telling me to go back to bed.  The cats were kind of looking forward to cuddling this morning but I also saw a glimmer in there eyes that things were back to normal.  I just hope that the next time I take time off it’s scheduled & planned and not sick time.  I hate being sick and it’s worse playing catchup.  Only thing on the books as of now is my Doctors Appointment in July and that’s a long way off. 

Last night as I was slowly drifting off to sleep, you could hear the sleet hitting the windows.  Mora perked up and stared at the Window as if she was concerned then Rudy followed as a reaction to his sister.  I told them both it was just sleet and nothing to worry about.  Turned off the TV and the white noise machine on.  We all passed out.  Until Mora woke me up on accident as she was leaving, she stepped on me.  Rudy climbed in bed in her place and it was back to sleep.  He stays the entire night with me for the most part and doesn’t move if I have to get up to use the bathroom.  He hates it when I climb back in bed but we manage. 

I think that’s enough yapping for now.  Time to go check on the little fur balls.  It’s just wet outside and there is no snow or ice to speak of.  It was a non-event only because surface temperatures were too warm.  Rain all week long, here’s hoping we don’t need to build an arc.
