Cold no more

Managed to wake up around my usual 7a time on my own.  Rudy was sleeping by my feet I said his name and he sprung to life and ran to greet me.  He made some biscuits and gave me a kiss.  While I didn’t want to get out of bed I knew that I had to so up to attack the day.

Passed out breakfast for the cats.  Got ready and dressed to head out.  Had an Omelet for breakfast and it was packed with all sorts of stuff.  I found myself way full!  Paid the bill and then on to Target. 

Picked up deodorant, soda, cat treats and a space heater.  For the last couple of years it’s been super cold in the living room and kitchen.  I know it’s due to the door/windows.  I can put up plastic on both and that helps out.  This year I vowed that we won’t be cold, hence the space heater.  I didn’t realize how much they cost.  What I got is made by Lasko for $65.  It oscillates has a digital display and a remote.  There is a timer and a child lock too.  It’s got a built in thermostat so when it senses the temperature drop it kicks on.  Just like the one I have in my office at work.  Got it hooked up and tested, it gets hot pretty quick.  The cats are going to love it.  For now it’s unplugged.  We have one night when it’s going to dip in to the 30’s for a low.  However, our temperatures are sea sawing where it’s cold at night and hot during the day.  Eventually that will stop and we will get cold and stay cold.  Until that happens I am just enjoying the extra time in short sleeves!

Hit up the grocery store just realized I forgot to buy Sour Cream.  I got a new Stouffer’s side dish of beans & rice with peppers in a cheese sauce.  I hope it’s good.  I have these as my main meal there are no sides to most meals that I eat at home. 

Speaking of food I’ve decided today is the day to go try the new extra deep dish pizza so I will be headed out in a bit for that.  I hope that my favorite stud of a waiter is working but I am not holding my breath.  It’s just that the extra bonus of seeing a hot guy makes the trip more worth it.  However, the main focus here is pizza as well as getting out of the area.  It’s about a 45 minute to an hour drive depending on traffic.  Then it takes about the same to cook the pizza.  Eating is about 20 minutes and then the trip back.  It’s a huge time suck but one that I enjoy. 

Found out that my neighbor has missed two property tax payments on both his present and new house.  Property taxes are auctioned off on an annual basis and you get a certified letter that warns you when you don’t pay, so it’s not like you can claim you forgot and didn’t know.  If someone buys them then they can place a lien on your property and charge you interest plus all of their costs for placing the lien.  If you don’t pay them eventually they will foreclose and you will loose your house but that whole process takes a couple years to play out from what I read.  There is no for sale sign on the old home.

I did some further research in to my late partners son.  Turns out this will be his 4th DUI, his license was suspended when he was caught this time.  From everything that I have read he is looking at a prison sentence of a few years as well as a ton of fines and the loss of his driving privilege's for life, plus the cost for his legal defense.  DUI isn’t a cheap mistake and it only gets more costly the more you get caught.  Even if he manages to not go to prison loosing his license isn’t something that is up for debate.  He just has to hope like hell that his attorney can get him off because if he’s convicted he’s fucked and not in a good way.  I will continue to follow this as it plays out.  It will take some time just like his prior cases did.  He’s already spent a ton of money you’d think he would have learned his lesson by now but some people just don’t get it.  As the saying goes stupid is forever and it can’t be fixed.  He just continues to disappoint and I am glad that his father isn’t here to see all of this play out.  The sad thing is that he’s got a kid who’s a teenager now and he’s really not setting a good example as a role model.  While I know he loves kids he shouldn’t have ever had one, but that’s just my opinion.

Get it yourself

I had my massage and got beat up pretty good.  I didn’t feel much afterwards but this morning it’s a whole different story.  My neck is what is bothering me.  I told her to only work on upper and mid back.  She worked the whole back and my ass.  I don’t get why people can’t follow directions. 

Afterwards I wanted to go out for a bite to eat but instead decided to grab the mail and come back home.  Thinking both of the left overs and my Amazon delivery. 

We passed the 6p mark and I called Amazon they told me that the package was for sure out for delivery with a driver and that it could be up to 10p before it arrived.  I stayed up until 2a on the couch watching TV and no Amazon driver ever surfaced. 

Don’t you know this morning the app said that my package appears to be lost and that if I didn’t want to wait I could request a refund.  I did request a refund.  I wasn’t happy about it either.  I went to a big box store and picked up a UPS this morning.  I paid way more than what Amazon was charging me but at least I had it physically in hand. 

Got that hooked up and topped off the charge on the battery.  It’s been sitting in a box since February according to the test report that came with it.  This unit has a 3 year warranty.  That makes me think that is their default period and I could pursue a warranty claim on the other unit, even though all it needs is a new battery.  However, there is boxing it up and shipping it.  Not sure if they make you pay for shipping or if it’s covered.  It sounds like a hassle because it is and I’m not bothering with it, which is exactly what they hope for. 

What kept me up until 2a.  Well I went down a rabbit hole on YouTube.  It suggested a video about a kid having a meltdown because his parents took away his World of Warcraft subscription.  It’s like 15 years old and I watched it and then just one after another after another.  I got caught up on these and subscribed to the channel.  Damn that kid needed to have his ass kicked 7 ways to Sunday.  If I would have done any of what he did I would have been smacked around.  It was both sad and fun to watch.  I just couldn’t help myself I had to go to the next one.  The cats cried because they lost out on cat nip and play time but they lived. 

I didn’t want to get up this morning for my haircut but I did.  Just didn’t shower.  I’ve slept for the biggest part of the day, which is no surprise.  I’ve been out for lupper had Mexican food from a place that I grew up with.  Forgot to tell them that I didn’t want any Guac (aka Green Slime) I know a lot of people love the stuff but not me.  By the time I realized that I had my food.  I ate it but it just wasn’t as enjoyable.  I also felt way full long before I normally would.  I kept going though and got all of the meat consumed.  Just as I was leaving someone placed an order for a Chocolate Shake.  Damn that sounded so good, perhaps I’ll try it next time. 

Now that I’m home for the day, working on laundry, finances and of course porn.  Then it will be up to take care of dishes, make the bed and watch TV.  Nothing special planned for tomorrow.  It’s my last free day and then it’s back to the grindstone and on to what I hope will be a calm on-call week.

Today’s the day?

Amazon lied to me and my UPS wasn’t delivered yesterday.  They say that it’s coming today.  However, I woke up to a message from the driver 3 hours prior to when I read it at 7a that they would be arriving soon to make sure that “the area is lit and kept clean, to put any animals away”  then just below that it said that they may attempt a redelivery today if their schedule permits.  WTF.  They never came here and my cameras prove that.  I think it’s just an automated message and really wasn’t from the driver.  They still show the package as arriving today.  Fingers crossed that it shows up. 

I am leaving work early today as I have a massage at 3 and I just took the rest of the day off.  By the time it’s done it will be 4 or 4:30 I don’t remember how much time I booked for because it was done in the Spring.  I am thinking of grabbing a bite to eat out when I’m done but that depends on how I feel.  I do have some left overs.

There is one meeting on the books just before lunch.  Then it’s smooth sailing the remainder of the afternoon unless something comes up.  I have a good feeling that it will be an okay day. 

Rudy took my spot on the couch last night when I broke for a snack for me.  I was fine with it.  I sat on the love seat in my old spot and Mora much like Gator came and jumped into the bed sitting next to me.  Kind of felt like old times.  Cats were sleeping and I was watching a YouTube video when the alert when off for the deck.  It’s windchimes and that gets attention from Rudy.  I peeked to see who or what it was and we had a cat that came to visit.  It was gone quickly so no sense in getting up.  I feel sorry for anything outdoors because it’s getting cold at night and as time goes on it will only get colder.  I’m not looking to take in any strays, I’ve got my hands full with the two that I have.  I want to take or help all of the animals in need but in reality that just isn’t possible. 

Had a decent nights sleep so well that when I woke up I was convinced that today was Saturday, that is until I heard the banging of the cans and that reminded me nope, it’s Friday. 

Got a haircut on the books for tomorrow morning and otherwise my weekend is free.  I know I will do some napping and relaxing, as well as my usual normal weekend tasks/chores.  I’ll be home all next week since it’s my on-call week.  That will drive me bonkers a bit but I will manage.

Power Outage

Yesterday when I left for the office I noticed a small piece of digging construction equipment in a neighbors front yard.  That was kind of a surprise.  Especially since they didn’t have any of the little flags in their yard like you do when you call before you dig, like your supposed to.  When I came home that same house was surrounded by trucks and contractors from some company.  I didn’t pay much attention to it. 

I went about my day and got settled at home, logged back in to work and fed the cats as well as given them attention.  We had supper watched some TV.  I got up to pass out treats and just sat back down.  I was half way listening to the TV and starting to check a couple things on my phone when all of a sudden BAM, the power goes out. 

Minutes prior to this I saw a couple of power company trucks in the neighborhood, they appeared to have left.  I wondered what in the world they did.  I opened the power company’s app on my phone and reported the outage.  Within two minutes two power company workers were walking across my front lawn.  You could say that is some service.  However, there trucks were parked on the street and they were here already. 

The cats were going a little bonkers from the beeping in the house.  The alarm system beeps to let you know it’s on battery backup.  The UPS’s that I have alarm to let you know that they are running on battery.  Problem is that the TV was on and that UPS just beeped loudly.  Come to find out that meant it’s shot so I had no landline phone or TV.  Not like I would watch TV during a power outage anyway. 

It took about 10 minutes to get things sorted out before the power was back on.  I got a couple of updates that the outage was due to digging and that’s when I thought the damn neighbor up the street caused all of this. 

Once things came back I made my rounds to double check that all of the clocks were displaying the right time.  Had to reset the microwave and stove.  Then worked on finding an outlet strip to power the TV & Landline phone.  Found that and got back up & running. 

Meanwhile I was still futzing with the UPS that had shot craps in the hopes I could revive it but the battery was toast.  It lasted a whopping whole two years.  I know that because I label everything with the purchase date and where I got it from. 

Thankfully this happened on the last Prime Day so I was able to find a decent deal on a replacement upgraded UPS that I am sure will last more than two years.  I get delivery of it today before 3p.  That means all of that equipment will have to power down again but at least I will have better protection in place when it powers back up. 

That was the first power outage I have had in a very long time.  We have had some brown outs or surges over the summer.  It’s been a few years since we have had a total power outage.  I remember when we first moved here the power was unstable and you never knew when it was going to to out but that was well over 25 years ago.  A lot has happened since then especially with modernization. 

While I am not thrilled about the UPS that shot craps I would rather replace that one thing instead of having to replace larger appliances or electronics.  I am also thankful that the outage was short lived and in decent weather. 

Speaking of weather we still have warm afternoons and cold mornings.  Last night it got down in the 50’s so you could for sure feel it inside.  We went from our normal 75-77 down to 73 and the humidity dropped as well.  Not to worry it will warm back up.  The AC runs about once per day late in the evening for a short time.

I hope the power company goes after the neighbor as well as the contractor that caused this whole little mess.  I am sure I wasn’t the only one who had issues as well as experienced the minor inconvenience.  It was also a good thing it was still light outside.  Otherwise I would have had to break out a flashlight and that would cause Rudy to think I was playing with him.  He loves a good game of flashlight tag.  Never seen a cat go crazy over a flashlight like he does. 

Hope you had a good day.  I’ve got one meeting where I will be the focal point and it should be short lived.  Then unless something earth shattering rolls in I am pretty well done for the day.  I still stay connected and keep tabs just because you never truly know.  You might get lucky and get a break or a bunch of stuff could happen and you get a ton of work.  It’s just a roll of the dice and you wait & see.

Man Candy - Delicious

Middle of the week

It was cold and dark this morning.  I woke up before Rudy for a change.  He was at the foot of my bed and he spring to life quickly.  Mora was sleeping in her bed and she got up but she wasn’t quick about it. 

Breakfast for the cats was up first and Rudy gobbled and made way for his sister who was happy to come eat.  Meanwhile I was working on heating up the water for my Oatmeal.  Had that, some milk, Belvita Breakfast Biscuits and a Banana. Then it was time to hit the shower.  Even the hot water didn’t move fast at 6a. 

I didn’t sleep the best I was up and down all night long.  Something about coming in this morning is what did it.  I forgot until I got here that they are working on the parking garage entrance and instead of having 3 lanes were down to 1 bi-directional lane.  It was easy to get in but it’s going to be murder getting out.  I do not look forward to that expedition but will be glad when it’s all behind me and I am finally on the road to home. 

I miss the cats and the comfort of my home and the freedom that comes with being there.  The only thing being here does is keep me away from the junk food, I’m limited to what I brought and it’s not much.  When I get bored I can eat or nap, I usually choose to nap. 

It’s almost time to head in to two boring back to back meetings.  My boss seems extra chipper today.  He sent a reminder that we have the meetings, as if we can’t see that on our calendars.  He also said that it’s going to be a great day.  Unless he’s passing out some money or time off it’s just another work day.  Nothing terribly special about it. 

As per usual I am looking forward to getting out of here and will enjoy crossing the threshold at home to see the two cats waiting for me and I know they will want food right away.

Cholula Burrito Bowl

Bet you can’t guess what I had for supper last night?  I know the title gave it away.  It was really good and full of flavor.  It was a little spicy for me but I managed.  I will be buying this again nice switch up to my otherwise boring frozen food menu. 

Watched the Documentary on Netflix about the Menendez Brothers.  This is a new film where both brothers talk from prison about what happened.  It was interesting but I didn’t learn a whole lot that I didn’t already glean from the movie that was released last month on Netflix.

Found an interesting documentary on YouTube about an old game show called The Press Your Luck Scandal.  It was about a player who figured out the system and got on the show and took the CBS TV Network for quite a soaking.  I loved that game show and the new an improved version was alright by me as well.  I learned a lot watching it and it was quite enjoyable. 

Worked from upstairs from around 2:30p until 4p.  I enjoyed being next to the cats and they liked the fact I was in the same room with them.  Of course they were all sacked out but would wake up now and then just to check on things. 

Got to really brush Rudy last night.  He got the Furminator which really gets the fur off of him as well as the slicker brush.  He’s chewing, scratching and grooming all the damn time.  I don’t know if he has fleas, is bored or has OCD.  Mora doesn’t have any of her brothers problems.  I’d think if it was fleas that she would get them too.  He bugs me at night to play and then we play time comes he gets busy grooming but plays a little bit. 

Sure got cold here over night in the 40’s I believe.  The house was 73 when I woke up.  I felt it during the night when I woke up and pulled the covers up a little higher.  Rudy was cuddling with me all night long.  I know that tomorrow when I am up an hour earlier and going in that it will suck being out in it.  However, my garage has extra insulation so my vehicle should be a decent temperature.  I often leave with no jacket/coat on and once I get to where I am going have to bundle up but the inside of the vehicle is comfy as can be. 

Well off to take a break and before I know it I’ll be back in 1 of 2 meetings that are on the books for today.  Hopefully, today is a lot like yesterday.  The morning has been busy up until now.  I hope you have a great day!

 

Back to the so called fun

Good morning readers! 

I enjoyed my evening getting laundry put away, icing up my knee, watching some YouTube videos, playing with the cats and then getting ready for morning as well as winding down for the night. 

I didn’t sleep the best managed to wake up about an hour after I fell asleep and noticed that the cats were taking up all of the foot room.  I tried to clear them out but they just got mad at me, then at each other.  Eventually though I was left with an empty bed.  Not sure how long they left me for but I know they came back as they always do.  Both long to be close to me and it’s fine except for when it’s time to sleep.  I think no matter the size of the bed the cats would occupy the majority of it. 

I’ve been through my morning tasks, checked up on my dummy co-worker who is still continuing to make mistakes.  I wanted to call him out but a tiny voice inside of me said give it a day maybe things will come together.  I kind of doubt it but I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt and then tomorrow I can drop the hammer on him.  The only good thing about him going out on Paternity leave is that I know he won’t be making any mistakes because he won’t be working. 

I managed to pay a bill and do a little bit of surfing.  The remainder of my work day is wide open so anything can come my way but I don’t anticipate it.  This is my last golden week to enjoy then I will be back on-call.  Forgot that I had a massage scheduled for Friday.  It’s around the corner from my house.  I could easily go and then log back on to work but instead I am leaving a few minutes before and telling the boss that I will be out of the office for the remainder of the day.  I will break that news tomorrow. 

For now I will be headed up to be with the cats and just watch my phone.  I know once I get comfy and interested in either falling back asleep or find a program that I want to watch that my phone will blow up but it’s a risk I am willing to take.  Beats sitting here staring at the screen with literally nothing to do or should I say nothing that I really want to do.

A Better Day

Today was a way better day than yesterday.  Rudy woke me up and I was quick to dismiss him but managed to open my eyes and look at the clock.  I slept in a whole 1/2 hour.  Seeing that I got up and got moving despite not really wanting to. 

Mailed in my ballot first thing before I had breakfast.  Felt good to get that taken care of.  A little nervous on how things are going to play out in the election but I’ve done my part, now all I can do is hope, pray and watch for the results. 

Had an okay breakfast, I got a usual item and there isn’t anything to rave about.  Hit up the grocery store afterwards and was able to stick to my guns and not buy so much sugary junk.  It wasn’t easy and I feel like I have nothing to eat here but that is so not the case.  Got a Cholula Frozen Burrito Bowl had no idea they made frozen food so I am interested in try this. 

I gassed up the car and then came home and unloaded.  Watched some TV and took a nap.  I wanted to sleep for longer than my body permitted but I realized that wouldn’t really accomplish anything. 

Got up and passed out lunch for the cats.  You know they got it good when they eat 3 cans (total not individually) per day.  They often don’t finish what I put out and pick I suppose because they know more food will be coming eventually. 

Cleaned out the cat fountain and changed the filter.  Another job that I despise.  Then put on some clothes and my outdoor work shoes.  Sprayed for bugs.  I killed a spider on the table last week and a damn stink bug yesterday.  I had been putting this task off and well looks like the bugs took advantage of things while they could.  Killed another spider while I was outside, it was hanging around my deck. 

Took off my work shoes and left them in the garage.  Removed my jeans when I came back in the house.  Decided that I needed a break and took it.  Watched some YouTube videos.  I was watching a car repair video and just got so horny for no particular reason.  Just a natural urge that I don’t get nearly as often as I did when I was younger. 

Well I had to do something about that so I watched some porn from the comfort of my living room.  No one was around but the windows were open and there was a possibility of a neighbor peering in but I honestly didn’t care.  That kind of made it a little hotter.  It felt good to take care of that. 

Then it was time to get to the house cleaning.  Took care of that and aired up the tires on the car.  Just a pound low so not too shabby.  Then I got dressed and went out for Mexican food.  It was good and I enjoyed the drive.

Back home drying some laundry, have already passed out treats.  Had to cuddle with Mora while I surfed the web.  She is quite demanding but I love her so I put up with it.  She did leave me alone long enough for me to get finances taken care of and I took care of something quick for work.  Yeah I’m not on-call but I know that “the mistake maker” wouldn’t be picking up the ball and he’s the one on-call that should have done what I did despite it not meeting the criteria of an emergency which is all we are required to respond to when we are on-call.  It was just the right thing to do and it helped someone out in the end. 

Surfing the web and got the urge to check up on a couple people that I keep tabs on.  Found out that my late spouses son got another DUI, this is his 2nd or 3rd offense.  Looks like his wife served him divorce papers and he went on a bender.  That’s gonna be expensive, not to mention the fact that he’s probably going to lose his license.  Looks like he’s getting paid back for all of those times he fucked over his father.  It’s sad that he would do something so stupid as drink & drive but he’s apparently not learned his lesson and the hard way is the worst way to learn but probably the best.  Especially when it dips into your bank account. 

My plan for the week is to go in on Wednesday.  It’s calendar ordering time and I can’t honestly remember the style of calendar that is on my desk so I have to go in to figure that out.  I’ve not ordered any calendars for home but I was pleased to learn that Corbin Fisher has published a 2025 calendar.  It’s on Amazon if you want it.  I used to get their calendars every year until they just stopped publishing them.  Before you know it I will be making up the on-call calendar for next year, that’s kind of how you know the year is done for.  This year has been a fast mover even though it’s only early October I know that cold, snow and ice will soon be here.  However, right now were dealing with summers last call before Fall like temps move in. 

Well time to grab my laundry, the cats and whatever toys they managed to drag down here and head up.  Got to ice my knee and get ready for another Monday!  Meanwhile I plan to enjoy the last few hours of Sunday before it’s time to go to bed.

Alone

Today was one of those days where I would have been better off alone, instead of trying to be around people. 

Rudy did his usual part and tried to get me up at 6a but he hung out with me for an hour and I got up at 7a.  Breakfast was set out for the cats and then I jumped in the shower. 

Once my shower was over and I was dressed, I ventured out for breakfast.  Then hit up the post office to find my vote by mail ballot waiting for me, a whole month before the election.  Wow that was impressive. 

Went to visit my friends at their business.  Sat around for a few hours.  The more I sat the more I learned.  Kind of felt invisible at times there were some awkward silences.  I had asked one of them to grab lunch or dinner with me sometime well over a month ago.  I got a bunch of excuses and was told that it would be a little bit.  I said I’m patient just hit me up whenever.  Yeah well they have been busy having fun without me.  I realized were never getting together but that’s not my fault.  I guess perhaps the problem is what I define as a friend is more like a business acquaintance. 

I had originally planned to hit up my Thanksgiving friends for supper.  I dismissed that but on the way to grab supper tonight I just got this nagging feeling and so I called.  It didn’t sound like it was going to happen but turns out it did.  We wound up at Olive Garden.  I saw a nice Latino Twink who looked amazing.  Our eyes met a couple times but that was the extent of it.  The meal was just okay, nothing to write home about.  I got another reminder that I am all alone. 

Came home and passed out treats, was happy to see the cats and they were happy to see me.  Then I put their food away and headed down to start laundry.  Surfed for some porn, caught up my finances and got my email. 

I think I would have been happier just being alone I was certainly in a much better mood this morning before I had contact with anyone.  Here’s hoping that tomorrow is a better day and that I encounter way better food. 

My knee is bothering me and I should put some ice on it.  I did that last night and it helped.  I am really not a fan of this getting older business despite the fact that it beats the alternative.  It’s all of the aches & pains as well as body parts slowly wearing out.  Shame I can just get a new body and keep on going, sort of like buying a new car.  Hey I can dream, there is no charge for that.

Friday Freedom

Morning!  It’s my last day with the boss gone and I knew it would go by fast.  It’s been very enjoyable to be able to relax and go about my day without having to go to a BS meeting or answer a phone call where his voice is on the other end.  Shame I can’t make this last a little bit longer.  I saw a meme earlier this week that made me think of my boss.  It said backbones are available on isle 3.  That got quite the chuckle out of me. 

My mistake making co-worker struck again this week and made me look silly.  I got all hot and bothered about it, composed one hell of an email to him but once I thought about it a bit more I realize no matter how much I complain it’s NOT going to change.  I just deleted the email and updated my tracking log with another one of his fuck ups.  This is one of those no win situations where I am stuck.  I did want to call him up and chew his ass but that wouldn’t get me anywhere.  I’ve not done that before but I am sure that it just wouldn’t help.  Why/  You can fix stupid, it’s forever!  Short of him quitting and me training a new person that is my only hope and honestly I am kind of tired of all of it.  The only other out for me is to just walk away and I’m not doing that without a new source of income.  I guess it’s a new reason to play the lottery. 

The cats were fighting last night in the middle of the night.  I got woken up but just rolled over and went back to sleep.  I don’t think I said a word about it.  I talked with both of them about it this morning but of course they just looked at me like they had no idea what I was talking about.  I’m sure that Rudy was in one of his playful moods and Mora wanted to relax and rest.  He picked on her and that got the fire started. 

I learned last night that Mora fluffs her tail as well.  I was in the bathroom winding down for the night and she was playing in the bathtub like a silly girl.  She got up and peered out the door.  She had a funny look on her face and then I saw that tail get large.  It was beautiful but then she took off like a bat out of hell.  Nothing more happened.  However, Rudy is the one that I normally see fluffing his tail.  Nice to know that Mora has the ability and while it looks pretty it’s not a good sign at all.  They are frightened or mad about something and chances are high that somethings is about to go down. 

Watched more car repair videos last night.  Saw a wheel alignment done on a classic Mustang.  Never knew exactly how alignments were done.  Now I’d like to see it on a modern car and I am sure if I searched I could find it.  You can learn some interesting things just watching videos.  My trial period of ad free is over and I am now paying for that option.  The first 30 days free are really a great selling part on YouTube’s end.  I quickly got used to it and now I never want to go back to seeing ads.  I wish I could buy a lifetime pass for everything so that I never had to watch another ad but sadly that option doesn’t yet exist. 

I plan to soak in as much relaxation as this day affords me.  I’ve got a task to take care of in a couple hours.  Until then I am free unless something comes stumbling in.  Then I have a little more to do late in the afternoon.  Here’s hoping that people leave me alone so I can enjoy my last day of freedom from my boss.

Up & Down

Hello there!  Good to see you.  I had an “okay” dinner last night.  Stouffer’s Fettuccini parts of which were cold for no reason.  I cooked it like the box said to and this is the first batch that I had an issue with.  The hot parts were good though.  Dessert was a 1/2 of a left over slice of Carrot Cake from the grocery store last week. 

We watched more YouTube videos mostly car repair stuff.  Interesting how many problems can crop up if a wire in your car gets cut or frayed.  Seems like dealerships want to sell wiring harnesses which are expensive and the labor to install them isn’t cheap either.  However, if you find a good & honest mechanic they can splice things back together and your in business for a lot less money. 

I started watching another video about this couple who purchased a new Ford F350 in December.  Their air conditioner went out and they are now fighting with Ford as well as their local dealership.  I can relate to their pain.  Takes me back to the days of when I had what I refer to as “the lemon car”.  It was one thing after another, I didn’t just have one issue I had many.  It was a long fight but eventually I traded the car and took a loss because I just got tired of fighting.  I started with the dealership and worked my way up in the manufacturer and finally wound up hiring an attorney, got fired by the attorney but they did get me a little bit of money for the “inconvenience”.  At the end of the day I was still stuck with the car.  Don’t you know as my luck goes, as soon as I traded it there was a Class Action Lawsuit and the settlement in some cases was better than what I got.  When you get a ‘lemon’ it is an up hill battle to get things fixed and you have what seems like a never ending fight on your hands.  The auto makers know that everyone has a breaking point and they hope that you’ll reach that point. 

This relates to my new car fever.  I am honestly scared to go trade now because from what I see quality control has gone out the window and they are making crap.  I don’t want to get something new only to have it break or have an issue that I have to fight to get fixed.  Once bitten twice shy as they say.  However, I know at some point I will just have to “have faith” and trust that I will get a decent model and make the trade. 

I put off shaving until last night, time got away from me on Sunday and I figured one more day won’t hurt anything.  I took care of that last night and got a shower.  Rudy came in for his drink of bathtub water which apparently is way better than the purified water from the fountain that has a filter.  Not sure why but they both go crazy for bathtub water.  I’ve yet to take an actual bath and leave the door open.  I am interested to see their reaction to that but also don’t want to wind up with a wet cat or claw marks on me.  Someday we will take that adventure.  I am more of a shower guy because baths just take too much time. 

My eye that I hacked away some of the lashes felt pretty good after a shower.  Eventually though it felt kind of dry so I gritted my teeth and put in some lubricating eye drops which felt like razors to the eye.  Not a good feeling at all. 

I did some research and apparently there is a right and a wrong way to trim your lashes but I am not the only person who has done this, which made me feel a little bit better.  I also looked up the plastic surgeon and she works at a hospital that is out of network for my insurance and I am not fond of that hospital network anyway.  I’m sure if I talk with my PCP he can refer me to someone if I want to go down that path.  Right now I am just waiting to see how the billing all works out since the new eye doctor is doing is differently than any other eye doctor I have ever seen before.  I think it’s about trying to get more money.  My medical insurance to my knowledge doesn’t have any vision benefits other than they will pay for photo fundus.  Me thinks I am going to have a fight on my hands but waiting is kind of torture.  You know it will happen in a month or more long after I forgot I even went to the eye doc. 

As for today, not terribly much going on.  It was a little busy this morning.  Things calmed down and I had a couple hours before I had to do anything so I opted to watch TV with the cats, which of course lead to a nap.  Then my phone went bonkers and it was one email after another, none of which needed immediate attention.  In fact I filed the bulk of them.  Then the lawn guys showed up.  That’s kind of when I gave up but I know I got a couple minutes of sleep in between interruptions.       

Bossman is headed on vacation tomorrow for the rest of the week and will be back on Monday.  That means that things should be relatively cool, calm and collective.  Hence part of the reason why I am staying home this week.  I know those days will go by fast for us and it will be back to the usual hub bub next week but as for now I am so looking forward to it. 

Not sure what I am going to eat for supper tonight but I am certain it will come out of the freezer, just like the cats food will come from a can.
