Well as the saying goes … all good things must come to an end. This past week had its ups and downs. I had a lot of fun. Spent way too much money but that tends to happen when one is on vacation.
I visited the local bakery two times this week. Once was for my thanksgiving friends, I surprised them like I did back on my birthday. I didn’t stay but a few hours and then got back home before dark. It was nice seeing them. His health is going downhill. He was treated for prostate cancer this year. His legs have acute edema. He’s got a heart murmur and diabetic retinopathy. The cancer is the worst because he’s being treated with hormone therapy and that sucks the life out of him. He had radiation therapy over the summer. He’s fatigued and just doesn’t look good to me. Hopefully he will have an update on the status of his cancer soon. We are planning on getting together for Thanksgiving as normal. I don’t know if they will host for Christmas, but we shall see.
The second bakery trip was just for me. I got things that I knew I would enjoy but I also know are bad for me. I just love sugar and can’t get enough of it.
Got the vehicle serviced, needed an alignment which I kind of figured. Outside of that everything else checks out fine. Which is good news for me.
Made the trip on Friday to the seafood place that I like. Decided to change my order and get Fried Cod. It was more like a Cod Steak. I had a side of broccoli with it and the meal came with a salad. It was enjoyable but not nearly as good as my standard Orange Roughy order. Got sat at the same table that I always seem to get when I visit this place. I almost asked for a different table but figured why upset things.
Spent lots of time with the cats just lounging. They seem to enjoy that. My back bothered me a bunch, so I hit up the stronger muscle relaxers and spent some time in bed. It’s still bothering me, but I am trying to push through it.
Treated myself to breakfast earlier in the week and again today. Did my normal Sunday run and stopped by Target. Man, the people mobbed Target like there was some super sale. Turns out they were all there for some $5 toy. Here I thought I might be getting in on some bargain but no such luck. It just made it difficult to get in and out of the store, but I made it.
Power went out at work, and I got a call about that just to tell me that they were on generators, which I had no idea we had. Despite being off I reached out and was told things were under control. I checked on that later in the evening and sure enough our office manager did exactly what I would have done to fix the system that usually has an issue. I made a trip over yesterday just to double check things since it had been a few days and I didn’t get any updates. Everything was working fine. I also expected that I would have something on my desk, but it was empty. Looks like I will have to make another trip in a couple weeks.
Got my eyes checked and all is well. No issues and I got new prescriptions for glasses but I’m not making any changes right now. The eye doc said that was fine. For the longest time I got new glasses every year but that turned out to be quite expensive even with decent insurance. It took me a bit before I learned that wasn’t necessary.
We have had two freezes, and our temperatures are more normalized for this time of year.
Did some Amazon shopping. Got my 2 naked male calendars for 2027. Bought a lap desk for use with my laptop I had been wanting it for a while and figured why not. Cats got their dry food. I also got a few things for the house. I’m waiting on a metal plate to cover the old dryer vent to finally close that up properly and for good. I purchased copper mesh to stuff inside of it. The plate should be in next week sometime. It will depend on the weather and my mood if I want to tackle that job now or put it off for a warmer weather day. Right now, the vent is sealed up with spray foam, and I am keeping an eye on it. Thus far no activity.
Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow but it’s that time. I will have 2 days with the mistake maker and then he will be on baby leave and won’t be back until mid-January. Being down a person will put some additional stress on me, but I’ve made it before, and I think I can do it again. Although it’s not enjoyable.
It’s been a real joy not to be tethered to a phone and having to constantly check it. Also being able to nap or sleep in without having to worry about the phone going off. As well as coming and going as I am pleased without having to think about work.
I’ve got two full weeks to work and then I will get another full week off. Might take another week in December just because but being down a person will likely make that difficult. Plus, the new guy might want to take some time off.
Hope that you are all doing well and that life is treating you good. Take care and thanks for visiting.
